General Motors Active Hood Pedestrian Safety System
Active Hood Pedestrian Safety System is a General Motors active safety technology that lifts the back of a vehicle’s hood to lessen the impact and potentially reduce injury to a pedestrian.
The system uses a pyrotechnic actuator to lift the back of the hood about 4 inches and is active between 16 and 30 mph. It debuted on the 2017 Opel Insignia range / Vauxhall Insignia range, as well as the 2018 Buick Regal range, including the 2018 Buick Regal Sedan “Sportback” and 2018 Buick Regal Wagon “TourX”.
