2020 Chevrolet Silverado Medium Duty Changes, Updates, New Features

Introduced for the 2019 model year in collaboration with Navistar, the 2020 Silverado Medium Duty line – which includes 4500, 5500, and 6500 models – gets the following minor changes and updates:

Interior

  • New airbags:
    • Crew Cab:
      • Single-stage frontal airbags for driver and front outboard passenger
      • Seat-mounted side-impact airbags for driver and front outboard passenger
      • Head-curtain airbags for front and rear outboard seating positions
    • Regular Cab:
      • Single-stage frontal airbags for driver and front outboard passenger
      • Seat-mounted side-impact airbags for driver and front outboard passenger
      • Head-curtain airbags for front outboard seating positions
    • Includes airbag deactivation switch for front outboard passenger airbag
    • For passenger seat delete models: frontal and seat-mounted side-impact for driver only, with head-curtain on both sides with rollover protection
    • For the 2019 model year, all models were equipped with single-stage frontal airbags for driver and front outboard passenger, and included airbag deactivation switch for front outboard passenger airbag

Powertrain

  • Addition of high idle switch
    • Not available with Power Take-off
    • Requires the PTX option, which is Power Take-Off not installed
  • Power Take Off (PTO) now has access on left hand side and right hand side

The updates and changes described here are specific to the U.S. market and may be different for other markets.
