2018 Chevrolet Express

The Chevrolet Express gets a number of changes and updates for the 2018 model year, which represents the 23rd model year of the first-generation Express that went on sale in 1996, or the 16th model year after the original van was updated in 2003.

2018 Chevy Express Passenger Changes & Updates

  • Replacement of 4.8L V-8 L20 Vortec gasoline engine with 4.3L V-6 LV1 as the base engine
  • Introduction of 6.0L V-8 LC8 gaseous engine capable of operating on both gasoline and CNG/LPG
  • Inclusion of 8-speed automatic transmission (M5U) as standard with the new base 4.3L V-6 LV1 engine and optional 2.8L I-4 LWN Duramax Diesel engine
  • Deletion of one exterior color and introduction of two new exterior colors
  • Deletion of manual day/night inside rearview mirror and associated windshield mirror mounting bracket, since all 2018 Express Passenger models now include a standard rearview mirror with integrated Rear Vision Camera in the mirror
  • Introduction of new safety features:
  • Standardization of dual composite headlights
  • Introduction of OnStar Commercial Link telematics feature
  • Change of Wheatland Yellow color (9W3) to SEO color
  • Changes in feature and package identification:
    • ZQ2 Convenience Package changes named to Power Convenience Package
    • ZQ3 Convenience Package changes name to Driver Convenience Package
  • Deletion of 8-passenger seating and 10-passenger seating on Express Passenger model, leaving the Express Passenger with the following seating configs:
    • 12-passenger in 2-3-3-4 seating configuration; 4-passenger seat is a 50/50 split, 2-piece configuration
    • 15-passenger in 2-3-3-3-4 seating configuration; 4-passenger seat is a 50/50 split, 2-piece configuration
  • Introduction of three new packages:
    • Safety Package
    • Communications Package
    • Enhanced Convenience Package

2018 Chevy Express Cutaway Changes & Updates

  • Replacement of 4.8L V-8 L20 Vortec gasoline engine with 4.3L V-6 LV1 as the base engine
  • Introduction of 6.0L V-8 LC8 gaseous engine capable of operating on both gasoline and CNG/LPG
  • Inclusion of 8-speed automatic transmission (M5U) as standard with the new base 4.3L V-6 LV1 engine and optional 2.8L I-4 LWN Duramax Diesel engine
  • Deletion of two exterior colors and addition of two new exterior colors
  • Changes to GVWR models:
    • Deletion of 10,050 pound GVWR
    • Introduction of 10,000 pound GVWR
  • Introduction of wiring provisions for electrical accessories
  • Introduction of inside rearview mirror delete option
  • Standardization of OnStar, OnStar 4G LTE with Wi-Fi and the OnStar Basic Plan
    • Introduction of OnStar delete option
  • Standardization of StabiliTrak
  • Introduction of Hill Start Assist
  • Standardization of dual composite headlights
  • Introduction of OnStar Commercial Link telematics feature
  • Change of Wheatland Yellow color (9W3) to SEO color
  • Changes in feature and package identification:
    • ZQ2 Convenience Package changes named to Power Convenience Package
    • ZQ3 Convenience Package changes name to Driver Convenience Package
  • Standardization of integrated Rear Vision Camera in the rearview mirror on 139″ wheelbase and 159″ wheelbase models, while rearview mirror delete option still available on some models

  • Passenger

The 2018 Chevrolet Express continues to ride on GM’s GMT 610 platform shared with the 2018 GMC Savana.

The 2018 Chevy Express is assembled by GM USA at the GM Wentzville plant in Wentzville, Missouri, USA. The Express Cutaway is also produced by Navistar at its plant in Springfield, Ohio.
