The Basics

The Corvette Sedan has not been announced nor confirmed by GM or Chevy. However, GM Authority does expect such a model to arrive in the future.

Before continuing, it’s worth clearing some confusion about whether the Corvette Sedan will be powered by an internal combustion engine (ICE) or batteries (thereby being a battery electric vehicle, or BEV). We firmly believe that a BEV powertrain will be found in the Corvette Sedan.

Direction

Though specifics are non-existent at this point, it’s highly likely that the Corvette Sedan will take on the direction of a performance-oriented model, rather than focused on luxury.

Platform

We expect the upcoming Corvette Sedan to ride on the GM BEV Prime platform. This is a variant of the GM BEV3 unibody electric vehicle architecture, but one that will be capable of accommodating several performance enhancements such as a lower floor height to accommodate the battery.

Powertrain

We expect the Chevrolet Corvette Sedan to feature Ultium Drive motors, with either a two-motor configuration (with a motor at each axle) or a three-motor configuration (with a motor at the front and two motors at the rear). Both configurations will give the model all-wheel-drive capabilities. A large Ultium Battery will be present and accounted for between the wheels. The multi-motor setup, coupled with the large battery, will certainly make for a hefty curb weight.

It’s possible that a rear-drive variant will be offered in the future.

Size

From a size standpoint, we expect the Corvette Sedan to measure around 195 inches in length. This size is necessary to properly package the battery pack and associated EV hardware, while also putting the vehicle in line with key rivals such as the Porsche Taycan (195 inches long) and Tesla Model S (197.7 inches long).

Two rows or seating for either four or five passengers will be found inside the cabin.

Timing

We expect the Corvette Sedan to come to market around the 2026 calendar year, likely as a 2027 model.

Competitors

Key competitors will include performance performance sedans with internal combustion engines, including the Porsche Panamera and Aston Martin Rapide, along with electric performance sedans like the Porsche Taycan and Lucid Air.

Renderings

GM Authority rendered a Corvette Sedan (with an internal combustion engine) back in October 2019 and then an electric Corvette Sedan in January 2022.

Corvette Sub-Brand

The topic of Chevrolet expanding the Corvette name as a sub-brand has been floating for roughly a decade, with the following reports on the topic:

Related Vehicles

The Corvette Sedan is expected to be mechanically related to another electric Corvette – the Corvette SUV.
