The Chevrolet Colorado mid-size pickup truck has never been offered in a high-performance Colorado SS model. As far as we know, such a model is not part of GM’s future product strategy and therefore will not be coming to market.
Chevrolet Colorado SS Status
Based on information gathered by GM Authority from sources familiar with GM’s product plans, a Colorado SS is not part of the GM or Chevrolet product plans.
In other words, the vehicle is not planned and is not in development.
Chevrolet Colorado SS Renderings
GM Authority artists have rendered a hypothetical Chevrolet Colorado SS to see how such a model could look like.
We gave our hypothetical Colorado SS a more aggressive front fascia with a unique grille and , wider fender flares, large wheels wrapped in high-performance summer tires, quad-tipped exhaust, transparent tail lamp housings, Black Chevrolet bow tie logos and SS badges throughout.
Until a Chevrolet Colorado SS Arrives
Until a high-performance Chevrolet Colorado SS comes to market, the most powerful engine in the second-generation Colorado lineup is the 3.6 V6 LGZ. The naturally-aspirated DOHC gasoline engine is rated at 308 horsepower (230.0 kW) at 6800 RPM and 275 pound-feet of torque (373 Nm) at 4000 RPM. It is mated to the GM 8-speed automatic transmission.
Meanwhile, the future Chevrolet Colorado (the all-new third-gen model) will likely be offered exclusively with the turbo-charged 2.7L I-4 L3B as the only engine choice. In the Chevy Silverado, the turbo-charged L3B is rated at 310 horsepower (231 kW) at 5600 RPM and 348 pound-feet of torque (471 Nm) at 1500 RPM.
