Expectations
Expected to launch for the 2028 model year, the Chevy Suburban EV will bring the long-running Suburban nameplate into the electric vehicle era.
The Suburban EV is expected to ride on the EV-dedicated BT1 platform and will likely be assembled at the GM Factory Zero plant (née GM Detroit-Hamtramck plant) with battery components supplied by a GM Ultium Cells facility.
The Suburban EV is expected to be available in a single body style – an extended-length full-size, five-door SUV. A shorter variant is expected to be offered as the Tahoe EV. The Suburban EV is expected to feature three rows of seats and be more spacious than the Suburban powered by internal combustion engines as a result of a longer wheelbase for the EV model.
The U.S. and Canada are expected to be the primary markets for the first-gen model, though it will also be available in select export markets.
