The Chevrolet Low Cab Forward trucks return for the 2017 model year as a result of a re-established partnership with Isuzu Motors. Based on the Isuzu N-Series, the trucks are manufactured for GM by Isuzu.
The vehicles are offered in seven work truck models:

Each one of those has underlying variants that modify the wheelbase, GVWR, and cab. The wheelbases range from 109- to 212-inches, the GVWRs go from 12,000 pounds to 19,500 pounds, and the cabs are either Regular or Crew.

The 2017 Chevrolet Low Cab Forward medium duty trucks offer three engines and three transmissions. The three engines include one GM gas engine — the 6.0L Vortec V8 L96 (or its LC8 gaseous variant) — and two four-cylinder Isuzu turbo-diesels.

This more powerful oil burner is mated to a 6-speed automatic Aisin A465 transmission (production code IR7) that features fifth and sixth gear overdrive with lock up in 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th and 6th, as well as PTO capability automatic torque converter lockup in stationary PTO mode.
On April 29, 2016, Chevrolet announced that its Low Cab Forward medium-duty trucks will have a starting price of $40,900 for gasoline-powered models and $48,375 for the turbo-diesel models.
“We know how important the total vehicle cost of ownership is to fleet customers to be successful in their work, and we believe these prices reflect some of the most competitive in the market when it comes to medium-duty trucks,” said Ed Peper, U.S. vice president, General Motors Fleet. “The range of prices gives fleet owners an option that best fits their needs.”

GM’s GMC brand will not receive its version of the Isuzu-Chevrolet Low Cab Forward truck. This is in contrast to the previous time that GM offered Isuzu’s LCF models, which resulted in both the Chevrolet and GMC brands selling the trucks.
On June 15th, 2016, General Motors officially announced a new partnership that involves Isuzu producing Low Cab Forward trucks for General Motors.
“Bringing low cab forward trucks back to our portfolio strengthens Chevrolet’s commitment to providing commercial customers with more choices and provides customers with a versatile lineup of trucks, vans and crossovers,” said Ed Peper, U.S. vice president of GM Fleet and Commercial Sales. “This addition helps our dealers satisfy their commercial customers’ needs all in one place.
For all intents and purposes, the Chevy Low Cab Forward is a rebadged Isuzu N-Series, otherwise known as Elf. However, Chevrolet’s variant is unique in being the only one to offer a gasoline-powered medium-duty low cab forward truck in the U.S. market. The engine that powers the vehicle is GM’s 6.0-liter Vortec V8 L96 (or its gaseous variant, the 6.0L V8 LC8).
As part of the agreement, GM and Isuzu will explore the use of GM commercial vehicle components for Isuzu low cab forward trucks and GM will continue to produce and supply the 6.0L V8 L96 gasoline engine and six-speed transmission for Isuzu gasoline-powered low cab forward trucks.
The collaboration between Isuzu and GM is part of a strategic partnership that, for more than 40 years, has been “producing collaborative business opportunities throughout the world”. This agreement “continues that tradition and reinforces a long-term relationship that helps to explore future collaborations in the U.S. commercial vehicle business”, according to a press release from both automakers.
