The XT9 is the possible name of an upcoming, unconfirmed extended-length, full-size luxury crossover utility vehicle (CUV) from Cadillac.
Following is speculative and unconfirmed information about the Cadillac XT9. This page is a continuous work-in-progress and will be updated on a regular basis as we await official details from General Motors and Cadillac.

It’s currently unclear whether or not Cadillac will make a vehicle called XT9, or what direction the model will take. However, based on Cadillac’s new CT/XT vehicle naming convention, we can deduce that it will be:
- A crossover utility vehicle (CUV)
- Full-size, likely mechanically related to the Cadillac CT9
As such, our best guess at this point is that the Cadillac XT9 will be an extended-length, full-size crossover with three rows of seating for six, seven, or eight passengers, depending on the configuration of the interior. It’s also possible that the XT9 name will not be used, and the vehicle we are referring to here as the XT9 will end up being the Cadillac XT8 instead.
The XT9 name is the result of a new naming scheme that names:
- All sedans, coupes, and wagons as CT followed by a number designating its order in the lineup
- All crossovers and SUVs as XT followed by a number designating its order in the lineup
Although General Motors has filed trademark applications for XT2 through XT8 with the Untied States Patent and Trademark Office, it has yet to do so with the XT9 name, bringing its prospects under question.
Cadillac has yet to announce or confirm an XT9. Even so, it’s possible that vehicle will come to market in the vicinity of calendar year 2020.
We expect the Cadillac XT9 to ride on GM’s Omega platform.
We expect the Cadillac XT9 to be powered by Cadillac’s upcoming turbo-charged eight-cylinder engine mated to an eight-or ten-speed automatic transmission.
If the XT9 winds up being based on the Omega architecture like we expect, then standard models will be rear-wheel-drive and all-wheel-drive will be an option.
We expect the Cadillac XT9 to be available as an extended-length, full-size crossover utility vehicle (CUV).

Assuming that the Cadillac XT9 will be an extended-length, full-size, four-door crossover, then it will be in a class of its own and have no direct competitors.
