Cadillac XT7

The XT7 is the possible name of an upcoming, unconfirmed, coupe-like full-size luxury crossover utility vehicle (CUV) from Cadillac.

Following is speculative and unconfirmed information about the Cadillac XT7. This page is a continuous work-in-progress and will be updated on a regular basis as we await official details from General Motors and Cadillac.

If you notice any inaccuracies about the information provided, please let us know here.

Currently, it’s unclear the direction in which Cadillac will take the XT7. However, based on Cadillac’s new CT/XT vehicle naming convention, we can deduce that it will be:

  • A crossover utility vehicle (CUV)
  • Full-size, likely mechanically related to the Cadillac CT7

As such, our best guess at this point is that the Cadillac XT7 will be a full-size crossover based on the XT6, but with a more alluring coupe-like body. We expect it to have two or three rows of seating for five passengers, but with less cargo room than the XT6 due to the sloping roofline implemented on “coupe-like crossovers”.

The XT7 name is the result of a new naming scheme that names:

  • All sedans, coupes, and wagons as CT followed by a number designating its order in the lineup
  • All crossovers and SUVs as XT followed by a number designating its order in the lineup

General Motors filed a trademark application for the XT7 name with the Untied States Patent and Trademark Office on November 7th, 2014.

Cadillac has yet to announce or confirm an XT7. Even so, it’s possible that vehicle will come to market in the vicinity of calendar year 2019.

We expect the Cadillac XT7 to ride on GM’s Omega platform.

We expect the Cadillac XT7 to be powered by turbo-charged six- and eight-cylinder engines mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission.

If the XT7 winds up being based on the Omega architecture like we expect, then standard models will be rear-wheel-drive and all-wheel-drive will be an option.

We expect the Cadillac XT7 to be available as a coupe-like, four-door, full-size crossover utility vehicle (CUV).

We expect the Cadillac XT7 to offer three rows of seating for six, seven, or eight passengers, depending on the configuration of the interior.

Assuming that the Cadillac XT7 will be a coupe-like, full-size four-door crossover, it will compete with:

  • Mercedes-Benz GLS-Class Coupe (rumored, not yet announced)
  • BMW X8 (rumored, not yet announced)
  • Audi Q10 (rumored, not yet announced)

Cadillac XT7 pictures are not available at this time. We will update this section when Cadillac releases information about the vehicle.
