Debuting at the 2005 Detroit Auto Show and going on sale for the 2006 model year, the Cadillac STS-V was part of the first-generation Cadillac V-Series vehicles, which also included the CTS-V and XLR-V.
The STS-V featured various upgrades over the “regular” STS, including Brembo brakes, larger 10-spoke alloy wheels, Pirelli run-flat tires, a faster steering ratio, a stiffer suspension, a rear differential cooler, and – of course – the supercharged Northstar 4.4L V8 LC3 gasoline engine.
Rated at 469 horsepower and 439 pound-feet of torque, the DOHC Northstar powerplant featured an all-aluminum engine block and cylinder heads, forged steel crankshaft, and cast iron camshafts. The GM six-speed automatic transmission did the cog shifts. Rear wheel drive was the only drivetrain on offer. All told, the STS-V was capable of accelerating to 60 mph in 4.6 second and crossing the quarter-mile in 13.2 seconds.
Exterior updates for the STS-V included a wire mesh grille, a “power-dome” hood, six-lug wheels, revised front and rear bumper, and a larger rear spoiler.
Inside, the high-performance luxury sedan featured upgraded leather and suede trimmings, along with the choice of either Ebony / Gray or two-tone Ebony / Tango Red colorways. The latter colorway was unique to the STS-V.
