Cadillac CT7

The Cadillac CT7 is an upcoming car from General Motors’ Cadillac division.

Following is speculative and unconfirmed information about the Cadillac CT7. This page is a continuous work-in-progress and will be updated on a regular basis as we await official details from General Motors and Cadillac.

If you notice any inaccuracies about the information provided, please let us know here.

Currently, it’s unknown the direction in which Cadillac will take the CT7. However, we do know that it will be a car (rather than a crossover/CUV or SUV) based on Cadillac’s new CT/XT naming convention.

In addition, we expect the Cadillac CT7 to be a two-door coupé and possibly convertible variant of the Cadillac CT6.

Cadillac has not confirmed the existence of a CT7, nor plans to release a coupe variant of the CT6. Even so, we expect that the CT7 will be a coupe variant of the CT6, and for it to become available in the vicinity of the year 2020.

The CT7 name is the result of Cadillac’s new naming scheme, wherein the brand names all cars (sedans, coupes, wagons) with the CT moniker, followed by a number designating its “sequence” in the lineup. Similarly, Cadillac crossovers and SUVS will be named XT followed by a number identifying its sequence in the vehicle hierarchy.

General Motors filed a trademark application for the CT7 name with the Untied States Patent and Trademark Office on November 7th, 2014.

We expect the Cadillac CT7 to ride on GM’s Omega platform.

We expect the Cadillac CT7 to be powered by a range of four-, six-, and eight-cylinder engines in both naturally-aspirated, turbo-charged, and possibly super-charged forms. The motors will be mated to eight-speed transmissions.

We expect the Cadillac CT7 to be available as a two-door coupe. A convertible variant is possible.

Based on our expectation that the Cadillac CT7 will be a coupe variant of the CT6, its competitors will be as follows:

  • Mercedes-Benz S-Class Coupe
  • Maserati Gran Turismo
  • Aston Martin Vantage
  • Rumored Audi A9
