Platform
The 2021 Cadillac CT5 rides on the all-new Alpha 2 platform, otherwise written Alpha II. The Alpha 2 platform is a General Motors vehicle architecture designed to underpin compact and mid-size vehicles with a longitudinal front-engine, rear-drive configuration. The platform is a successor to the first generation Alpha architecture, or Alpha 1.
It is the same chassis the underpins the first-generation Cadillac CT4.
Production
The 2021 Cadillac CT5 is assembled by GM USA at the Lansing Grand River Assembly Plant in Lansing, Michigan, USA for the North American market.
The model is also assembled by the Cadillac China manufacturing facility, otherwise known as Cadillac Jinqiao or Shanghai-GM Jinqiao, which is located in the town of Jinqiao, Pudong, Shanghai, China.
Availability
Units of the 2021 CT5 should hit US dealer lots by the end of the 2020 calendar year.
The vehicle is expected to be made available in various other markets at some point in the future, including Mexico, South Korea, Russia, Japan, Europe and the Middle East.
Debut
The Cadillac CT5 made its debut on March 18th, 2019 in the automaker’s ‘Sensory Symphony’ social media campaign.
Beyond 2021
We expect that the first-generation CT5 will live on through at least the 2025 model year.
