The Cadillac CT2 is an upcoming car from General Motors’ Cadillac division.
Following is speculative and unconfirmed information about the Cadillac CT2. This page is a continuous work-in-progress and will be updated on a regular basis as we await official details from General Motors and Cadillac.
If you notice any inaccuracies about the information provided, please let us know here.
Currently, it’s unknown the direction in which Cadillac will take the CT2. However, we do know that it will be a car (rather than a crossover/CUV or SUV) based on Cadillac’s new CT/XT naming convention. Furthermore, we expect the Cadillac CT2 to become one of the following two vehicle models:
- A replacement for the Cadillac ATS Sedan
- A new four-door sedan model to slot under the ATS Sedan
Though Cadillac has not announced what the CT2 will be or when it will be announced. Even so, we expect that the vehicle will either replace the ATS Sedan or be a new four-door model that will slot under the ATS, and for it to become available in the vicinity of the year 2020.
The CT2 name is the result of Cadillac’s new naming scheme, wherein the brand names all sedans and coupes as CT followed by a number designating its order in the lineup. Similarly, Cadillac crossovers and SUVS will be named XT followed by a number identifying its order in the vehicle hierarchy.
General Motors filed a trademark application for the CT2 name with the Untied States Patent and Trademark Office on November 7th, 2014.
We expect the Cadillac CT2 to ride on GM’s Alpha platform.
We expect the Cadillac CT2 to be powered by a range of four- and six-cylinder engines in both naturally-aspirated and turbo-charged forms, mated to either six- or eight-speed transmissions.
We expect the Cadillac CT2 to be available as a four-door sedan. A coupe and possibly convertible variant will possibly be called CT3.
