Cadillac Opulent Velocity Concept

The Cadillac Opulent Velocity Concept is a concept vehicle that represents Cadillac’s vision of a luxurious, zero-emissions high-performance hypercar.

Overview

Through two distinct user experiences – Opulent and Velocity – this Cadillac concept combined advanced technology with bespoke luxury touches to create the luxury marque’s vision of all-electric performance from its V-Series model range.

“Opulent Velocity is an experience-based design study,” says Global Cadillac Design Executive Director Bryan Nesbitt. “It’s the future vision of luxury performance, incorporating Cadillac’s leadership in hands-free driving capabilities, electrification and performance excellence. Opulent Velocity expresses the most artful integration of technology, luxury and exhilaration characterized by Cadillac’s halo V-Series variants, and future electrification design expressions.”

Opulent And Velocity

The Opulent experience featured level four autonomous capability for hands-free driving by way of multi-sensory modes. Said modes were accessible via a full widescreen display and Augmented Reality Head-Up Display (AR HUD).

The Velocity experience attempted to offer the performance of a hypercar yet retain the luxury of a Cadillac product. Once Velocity was activated, the steering wheel and pedals became accessible, and the driver was prompted to take control of the vehicle. Inspired by Cadillac’s Blackwing track-proven engineering, Velocity featured numerous driving-focused technologies, including road overlays, active information about road conditions, and complete control over active aero and suspension dampening settings.

Exterior

The Cadillac Opulent Velocity Concept drew inspiration from Cadillac’s V-Series.R hybrid racecars, and featured a clean modern appearance with a low silhouette and tucked front fascia. The butterfly doors allowed for easy ingress and egress, while Cadillac’s vertical lighting signature could be seen on the headlights and taillamps. Additional touches included a 3D lit grille, along with the Gilded Pearl paint color.

“Opulent Velocity is inspired by the dynamic design cues of motorsports in a 2+2 aerodynamic body form,” Cadillac Advanced Design Manager Magalie Debellis noted. “It conceptualizes a holistic consideration of all elements and senses, showcasing a perfect marriage of hypercar personality with luxury execution and revered opulence. It’s a signal to the world that Cadillac intends to lead in electrified luxury performance.”

Interior

The spacious cabin features a 3D information-enabled widescreen display, a fully digital cockpit, racing-inspired Y-shape steering wheel, voice command user experiences, and an intuitive infotainment system. Finished in the Selene interior colorway, the interior of the Cadillac Opulent Velocity Concept featured 3D printing technology to create two-toned embroidery with prismatic embellishments.
