The refreshed 2026 Chevy Tracker was officially unveiled in South America this week, and during the presentation, General Motors announced that production of the updated crossover has started in Brazil.
The automaker announced the production start of the refreshed 2026 Chevy Tracker at the GM São Caetano do Sul plant in the Brazilian state of São Paulo, which is responsible for manufacturing the model to supply the domestic market in Brazil and all other countries in the region where it is sold. As such, the first 2026 Tracker units for sale have already left the production lines and have begun to be distributed across the local dealer network.
“General Motors has begun commercial production of the New Tracker at its São Caetano do Sul plant, the longest-running automotive factory in operation in Brazil – and one of the group’s most modern in the world,” said GM Brazil a statement. “To enable the assembly of one of the best-selling SUVs in South America, the production line underwent a significant transformation, with a focus on quality, productivity and ergonomics,” the company added.
The production start of the refreshed 2026 Chevy Tracker at the Brazilian plant is the result of a series of significant facility improvements that increase the efficiency and quality of the vehicles rolling off the assembly line. In fact, GM says the Sao Caetano plant underwent a major transformation to produce the new 2026 Tracker, including new assembly equipment and quality control systems.
Specifically, improvements to the 2026 Chevy Tracker production facility include an automated cell for the new front bumper with more efficient aerodynamic features, new stamping fixtures, robots, and reconfigured parameters in the paint shop. Additionally, adjustments were made to body fixtures and improvements were made throughout the component fixturing process, including surface checks, wheel and headlight alignment, and more.
