As the Chevy BrightDrop electric van evolves, so does its RV counterpart. Detroit-based startup Grounded has launched the G3, the third generation of its BrightDrop-based RV with higher-quality fit and finish, two body options, and enhancements to the electrical system, making it more suitable for a wider range of uses.
The Grounded G2 debuted in 2023, but it had some limitations. It was only available with the BrightDrop Zevo 600 platform, while the G3 can be had as a Chevy BrightDrop 600 or the shorter BrightDrop 400. The G3 also boasts a slightly improved range over the G2, increasing from 250 to 286 miles on a full charge. Both are AWD.
Grounded says the G3 has undergone a “ground-up reimagining” of the interior. There are no more exposed tracks like there were in earlier models, giving a cleaner look. There’s also no more thin plywood; all cabinetry now uses aluminum frames and more durable recycled materials. There are also more customization options for colors and textures, so you can make this RV your own.
Roll-up garage doors are great for delivery vans but not ideal for campers. The G3’s replacement is a full-width, swing-out rear door with a big window. This significantly improves the interior’s thermal efficiency while increasing the standing height at the rear.
The G2’s house battery was a 10 kWh battery charged by a 640W rooftop solar system. The G3 is available with a house battery capacity of up to 20 kWh comprised of modular, self-heating batteries more suitable for all-season use. It also has 1 kW roof solar and a 1.4 kW vehicle-to-home charging system.
The Grounded G2 is available in three trims: Form starting at $165,000, Function starting at $180,000, and Freedom starting at $200,000.
Form has the basics like a fixed Queen bed, a small kitchen with a sink, stove, and fridge, plenty of storage cubbies, and a Starlink satellite dish. Self-heating 5 kWh and 10 kWh house batteries are available at this level. Upgrading to the Function trim gets you more kitchen, a 15 kWh house battery, powerful AC, a choice of a shower or desk, and more choices of cabinet finishes. The top-of-the-line Freedom has the 20 kWh house battery, high-speed Starlink, a lift bed with a lounge underneath, and a full kitchen and bathroom suite.
Interested RV shoppers can submit their orders now for a Grounded G3.

EV Campers are nice, quiet in the camps no loud generators running.
Local Red Cross Agencies should invest in a couple of these for emergency use.
Yes of course these would be so useful in areas with no power. Brilliant!
The house batteries charge at almost the same rate using just solar. The article quoted 1kw vs 1.4kw. Maybe I’m missing something. I’m not as up to speed as with ICE stuff.
