GM Among Civic 50 Honorees For Superior Corporate Citizenship

General Motors is one of 50 companies honored on the Civic 50 list for 2025. The list is compiled by Points of Light, a non-profit founded by President George H. W. Bush in 1990 that engages people and companies to solve problems through volunteer service. GM is one of just two automakers to earn the Civic 50 honor this year, the other being Subaru of America.

“This isn’t just an award. It’s a direct reflection of GM’s deep commitment to making a positive impact in the communities where we live and work – right here in Michigan and all across the country,” GM Vice President of Infrastructure and Corporate Citizenship Dave Massaron said. “This validates our belief that strong corporate citizenship is integral to our values and vital for a better future.”

The Civic 50 list has existed since 2012. It recognizes companies for “superior corporate citizenship” and showcases “how companies can use their time, skills, and other resources to improve the quality of life in the communities where they do business.”

Massaron said GM’s inclusion on this list was 10 years in the making, as the automaker has made an effort to do more for the local communities where it operates. He cited the GM Cares organization, established in 2011, as part of the reason General Motors made it on this year’s Civic 50 list. GM Cares supports employees’ efforts to contribute to their communities in Michigan and beyond by volunteering their time and making monetary donations.

“Our success – and this honor – is a result of the selfless commitment of our employees, both hourly and salaried, senior leaders and new hires, and contributors of all levels,” Massaron said. “We know that doing good is good for business, for our workforce, and for the world.”
