2026 GMC Canyon Adds New Nightfall Essentials Package

The 2026 GMC Canyon debuts the third-gen midsize pickup’s fourth model year, offering up a few notable updates and changes along the way. While no major mechanical or platform changes are expected, the 2026 Canyon will offer a new appearance package aimed at enhancing the overall exterior styling. Now, GM Authority is taking a closer look.

The 2026 GMC Canyon will offer a new aesthetic package

GMC Canyon Nightfall Edition

Dubbed the Nightfall Essentials Package and tagged with RPO code PDJ, the new aesthetic package is available exclusively for the off-road-ready Canyon AT4 trim level. The new Nightfall Essentials Package includes the following content (relevant RPO codes listed in parentheses):

  • 275/60R20SL AT blackwall tires (QAE)
  • 20-inch Machine Faced wheels with Dark Pockets (RHO)
  • Black Badge (RIK)
  • Black GMC emblems (SFZ)

Put it all together, and these additions lend the 2026 GMC Canyon a subtle, stealthy-inspired look, which may appeal to buyers seeking premium styling matched with an off-road-oriented trim level. Pricing for the new Nightfall Essentials Package has yet to be announced.

It’s also worth noting that the new Nightfall Essentials Package differs from the Nightfall Edition Package (RPO code PDI, pictured abpve), which launched for the 2025 model year. That said, the Nightfall Essentials Package offers the same basic content as the Nightfall Edition, while the Nightfall Edition adds two additional exterior accessories, including a rocker panel protector (RPO code S6L) and a bed-mounted sports bar (RPO code SBY).

Production of the 2026 GMC Canyon, as well as the 2026 Chevy Colorado, is set to begin on July 7th, 2025, coinciding with the end of production for the 2025-model-year pickups. Both trucks will continue to be assembled at the GM Wentzville Assembly plant in Missouri.

The third-generation Canyon is powered by the TurboMax 2.7L I4 L3B gasoline engine, which is rated at 310 horsepower and 430 pound-feet of torque. The third-generation GMC Canyon rides on the updated 31XX-2 platform.
