Some 2025 Cadillac Lyriq Units Need An Unresponsive Key Card Fix

General Motors has released a new a Customer Satisfaction Program for the Cadillac Lyriq to fix a possible issue with the Virtual Key Module (VKM). According to the new CSP, the VKM may malfunction in certain units of the 2025 Cadillac Lyriq, which could cause the wireless door lock key card to become unusable. To fix this, GM dealers will reprogram the VKM. It is currently unclear exactly how many units may be affected by this issue.

The 2025 Cadillac Lyriq may need a fix for an unresponsive key card.

The new CSP was released last month and is tagged as N252503350, “Unresponsive Virtual Key Module.” The CSP only applies to units of the Cadillac Lyriq produced for the 2025 model year. The program will be in effect until June 30th, 2027.

The CSP does not specify exactly what the issue could be with the VKM, simply stating that it may malfunction and leave the wireless door lock key car inoperable. To fix the issue, dealers have been instructed to reprogram the VKM. In some cases, owners may receive the appropriate software fix remotely through an over-the-air (OTA) update and will not need to visit a dealership. However, if OTA updates are not accepted or otherwise unavailable, the vehicle must be taken to an authorized Cadillac EV dealer, and the repair must be done by a trained technician. No parts are needed for this repair.

To clarify, the 2025 Cadillac Lyriq is equipped with a Key Card, and not a Digital Key (RPO code BOY). Back in 2023, GM Authority reported that the Cadillac Lyriq was not equipped with the Digital Key feature for the 2024 model year, as originally expected. GM Authority reached out to Cadillac for comment, with a Cadillac spokesperson stating that the Digital Key feature was expected to arrive sometime around the mid-model year. However, with the launch of the 2025 Cadillac Lyriq, the Digital Key is still not offered.

As a reminder, the Cadillac Lyriq rides on the GM BEV3 platform and produced at the GM Spring Hill plant in Tennessee.

  1. I called the local Cadillac dealer and was told they didn’t know how to fix the key card issue and to take it back where I bought it, 120 miles away. Needless to say, I have not done that.
