Rough Country Launches GMC Sierra Illuminated Running Boards: Video

GMC Sierra owners eager to upgrade their ride for easier ingress and egress can now turn to Rough Country for its new multi-color LED running boards. These illuminated running boards are Bluetooth-controlled and incorporate a set of LED strips, offering users copious lighting combinations, all without compromising on durability. The boards are compatible with Crew Cab variants of the GMC Sierra 1500, 2500 HD, and 3500 HD produced between the 2019 and 2025 model years, including Classic models.

Illuminated running boards available for the GMC Sierra pickup.

Constructed from one-piece aluminum, the running boards are both lightweight and corrosion-resistant thanks to a black powder-coated finish. The steps run the full length of the cab and offer a practical step-up for added comfort and convenience, while also protecting the lower body panels and pinch welds from errant bits of debris kicked up from the road and trail.

While these boards look great in the daytime, what truly sets them apart is the integrated LED lighting system. The LED lights are controlled via a dedicated Bluetooth app available for iOS and Android devices, giving users a chance to customize their lighting experience with 234 color options, 12 dynamic lighting effects, and five preset color saves. Users can also control brightness, animation speed, and timing features directly from the app, with lighting duration adjustable from one second to ten minutes. The boards also incorporate built-in RC-branded puddle lights, adding even more flash to the setup while also improving safety and convenience when entering or exiting the vehicle.

Installation is relatively straightforward, with the boards bolting straight onto the pickup without the need for drilling. The boards can also accommodate both stock and lifted suspension setups.

Pricing is set at $699.95 and includes free shipping. Customers will also get a limited lifetime warranty for the boards’ material and workmanship, as well as a one-year finish warranty.

  1. My dad’s ‘70 Caddy had illuminated door panel lighting. One was red and the other white. It effectively illuminated the ground so one could avoid stepping in doggy do doo at night. Not everyone cleans up after their dog.
