New Silverado, Sierra Software Update Looks To Fix Infotainment Issues, Available Now

A new over-the-air (OTA) software update for full-size GM trucks – the Chevy Silverado and GMC Sierra – is being pushed out to owners.

The description of the update, which is named N25-250380, is listed as being for 2025 Chevrolet Silverado and 2025 GMC Sierra trucks and includes:

  • Improvements to software performance
  • Fixes for audio system performance
  • Improvement to connectivity for Bluetooth
  • Fixes to help ensure successful software updates and notifications
  • Fixes to address instances of inactive driver display
  • Improvements to functionality for USB and steering wheel controls

As is becoming the norm for these kinds of updates, it takes about 15 minutes to install, during which time the vehicle will need to remain parked and turned off.

Additionally, the radio in the Silverado and Sierra trucks may stay on up to five minutes after you exit the vehicle during the update process. All this is expected behavior when an update package is onboard the vehicle. GM also reminds owners not to service the vehicle during installation.

For some (rather strange) reason, 2022 (2022.5/interim model year), 2023 or 2024 trucks are not listed as being compatible with this update, despite featuring the same infotainment and running the same Global B electrical system.

N25-250380 follows another update (N25-250520), which was released in May, followed by an update (likely issued by Apple to iOS/iPhone iOS) that fixed wireless CarPlay for some owners.

A summary of fixes included in GM update N25-250380.

If you installed this update on your Silverado or Sierra, are you seeing any improvements? Sound off in the comments below.

  1. Why not give earlier models an update to fix the entertainment center. I am sure we are having the same problems as the later models

    2. Note the base infotainment HW is different (Intel Atom vs. ARM) but still base Android Automotive across both. Of course maintaining two different HW variants would require the GM Infotainment team to walk and chew gum at the same time. So no, probably never gonna happen.

  2. GM’sRegional Service Engineer loaded this SE into my 2024 Suburban this past week, it has eliminated the no audio issue. However, three times I have turned off the audio system and 30 seconds later, the audio system turned back on.

    1. I just bought a 2025 AT4 and having the same problem. 3 years and they still can’t fix it? Sucks to pay that much for a new vehicle and have problems soon as you get it.

  5. I have a 2022 Sierra Denali pick up and I am getting a few seconds of silence every 10 to 15 minutes with satellite radio while it is playing a song. Is anyone else experiencing this? Jim

    1. I have a 2025 Denali and I have the same issue. I have assumed it was the signal being blocked by trees. Now I am not so sure.

      1. It’s not the satellite signal. I have a 22 Sierra and have had the same thing with the radio going silent multiple times for a few seconds each for almost 2 1/2 years. At least it only happens when I start it then works fine. Dealer keeps doing software updates and finally replaced the radio last month under warranty, but still the same problem. They can’t fix it.

  7. When stating Silverado’s which versions are you writing about? 1500 series? DOES THIS INCLUDE THE 2500HD and 3500HD VERSIONS? Please include all trim levels that may be affected. Include all the years that that are included in this update if multiple.
    Thanks.

    1. Jim – that’s in the works. At the moment, you know as much as I do in terms of which models / trims this applies to.

  15. After about one year of experience with my 2024 Silverado 2500 HD, I have some advice for General Motors. DO NOT sell products that have not been thoroughly tested OR caution your customers that software on your new vehicle may not function as expected all the time and software upgrades will be necessary, free of charge, from time to time. I’ve been driving for about 60 years now and I’m NOT a fan of what’s happening in the automotive industry right now.

  16. Just purchased a 2025 Silverado LT Z71 on 06/05/2025 and the install occurred yesterday. I have an Android and as soon as I start the truck up now it pops up with carplay. Love the truck as I traded a 2023 Ranger Tremor in on it. Smooth as silk.

A couple videos down it shows you how to restart the system by just holding down the phone hangup button on steering wheel . Takes just about 2 minutes or less . Music note came back on the screen and works fine now .

  19. I don’t know where to start with infotainment issues. It blows my mind how many design flaws there are. Some issues are related to software problems, and some are related to software stupidity. I’ll give you one example – along the left side of the screen is a stack of icons the driver can “customize”, however, there is a Home button that cannot be moved, or removed…about 2 inches away from this home button, is a physical hard-push button right below the volume knob that does the exact same thing – take you back to the Home Screen…why on earth would they not allow you to remove the on screen home button in the stack of customizable icons, when there is an actual push button 2 inches away!?!? …there are so many other frustrating things with the infotainment system that I’ll stop there.

    1. 2025 AT4 here, my home screen button below the volume knob doesn’t work, hasn’t worked since I bought the POS truck 3 weeks ago. Maybe that’s why you can’t move it.

  20. My 2024 LTZ had numerous problems with the electronics. OTA updates didn’t fix the problem s. So I found the true fix..
I drove over to the Local FORD dealership traded in this 2024 heap of junk, for a New 2025 F150.
    Guess what? PROBLEM FREE.
    SEE..I fixed that problem.

    1. Randall, do you have Onstar, and do you know if it is required to receive OTA updates?

I have a 2023 High Country, and have never been promoted to do a software update.

  22. We have a 2024 Sierra Denali Ultimate with the same issues. We have had it in the shop 4 times for these same issues. AND the Vader Chrome has peeled off the grill 3 times.

  23. I have a 23 ZR2 Bison 6.2L, are we going to address the crackling on the speakers when someone calls us? (My best guess is, they went cheap on the speakers and no ota will fix this issue) it has been 2.5 years since it came about and no fix yet so…. either I’m right or they can’t figure out how to fix speakers?!?!

Additonally I find it suspicious that this update is doing more than advertised or ot generally covers GM fixing software on the AFM. 22-24 are under recall and with thier half baked fix for that, it wpuldnt surprise me 22-24 will be left out indefinitely.

Emissions is the real criminal expecting 30 mpg average by 2030. Forced induction is horrible and a 4 cylinder truck is criminal.

Anyways anyone find something out or likewise please post. GM is covering their tracks rn and have to focus on 25s because future sales is what going to keep them from bankruptcy.

  24. I have a 2024 Silverado RST with a 6.2 V8. Yes the one with the recall.
My question is…… when will GM send out the recall notices so we can get this taken care of?

    Reply
    1. If there is a recall and you know about it, you do not have to wait for the notice to go to your dealer. Just bring your vehicle in if you want to get it taken care of early.

  26. How about an update for the Onstar in my 2015 Yukon Denali!! If I would’ve known that I couldn’t use my Onstar just because it runs on 2.4g I never would’ve bought it. I am typically a straight up Ford girl but wanted to make the switch because of the Onstar feature. I was told that there was an upgrade to take mine from 2.4g to 5g, so I bought it. Well, there’s no upgrade and doesn’t plan to be one from what I’ve heard. I can’t get Onstar, or use a lot of other features in my truck and never would’ve bought it had I known. Does anyone know if there has been any movement on this front? I was also told that someone had started a class action lawsuit because we can’t use that safety feature, and GM hadn’t come up with an upgrade. Does anyone know if that’s true? I would like to get in on that. Not everyone can just go out and buy a 2024 just to be able to use Onstar!!

  31. When they can’t duplicate the problem take a picture/ video. Save your repair orders. Get your owners manual or use google and read the LEMON LAW. Go back for service and get another Can’t duplicate the problem, save your repair orders, do this again. Reread the lemon law. GOOD LUCK

  32. 2022 Silverado 1500 High Country. This is the buggiest most bizarre vehicle I have ever or currently own. Radio cuts out 3 separate times every startup for 1-2 sec each time. Everything this truck does it does SLOW. I guess the Commodore 64 processor just cannot keep up or keep things straight. I own 2 new Rams too, probably gonna make it 3 here soon.

I just switched phones from Samsung and it did not do that before. BTW using half the screen for CarPlay is wack. Update was requested today will be installed at night.
