The Chevy Brookwood isn’t always the first name that comes to mind when GM enthusiasts think of iconic two-door wagons from the Bowtie brand. Not letting the Chevy Nomad get all of the spotlight, Hot Wheels is introducing a special two-door Ice Blue 1959 Chevy Brookwood model available to Red Line Club (RLC) members.
This 1:64 model has what Hot Wheels calls a “Spectraflame ice blue” body color on the ZAMAC-made body and a custom stripe pattern all over the body, including the roof. “This two-door wagon brings the eye candy with a raked and lowered stance and two-tone interior details,” reads the description from Hot Wheels. “Just open the hood, lower the tailgate, and enjoy the compliments.”
Other details include Real Riders stock car chrome wheels with whitewall tires, a metallic silver chassis, light smoke-tinted windows, and a pearl white interior with light blue accents. Naturally, a model V8 resides under the opening hood. A clear display case is included with the model, and the case comes with a slipcover sporting period-correct branding for both Chevrolet and Hot Wheels.
Produced from 1958-1961 with a comeback from 1969-1972, the Chevy Brookwood was essentially a wagon version of the Chevy Bel Air from when wagons had distinct model names from the sedans and coupes they were based on. The second-generation model, like the one this model emulates, produced from 1959-1960, was the only generation of the Brookwood available as a two-door. When it was discontinued in 1960, it marked the end of full-size two-door wagons from Chevrolet. This makes it a rare and collectible piece of Chevy history, with four-door bodies being much more common for family-oriented station wagons.
This Hot Wheels model launches on Tuesday, July 1st, at 9 am PT and ships on or before August 22nd. It’s available to RLC members with a limit of two per customer. As of this writing, an annual RLC membership costs $9.99.
