Comments
Based on experiences with the Lyriq, an Escalade IQ owner who spent an astonishing $153,595.00 on their large electric wagon can expect it to be worth $69,118.00 after five years. Total loss would be $83,378.00. That’s based on Lyriq’s 55 percent rate of depreciation. A better choice financially would be a similarly priced petrol-powered Mercedes G-wagon that only loses 23 percent after five years on the road. A hypothetical G-wagon priced at the same $153,595.00 would still be worth $118,268.00 losing only $35,000.00 after the same five-year stint on the road. Obviously that’s a nearly $50k advantage for the gasoline-powered Mercedes-Benz.
I think the high rates of depreciation on EVs are proving to be their proverbial Achilles heal. With especially large expensive EVs like the Escalade IQ, the losses could potentially be eye watering.
That is going to change as people realize the IQ is far better than a Meritocracies. When I owned my Mercadies I spent 10k per year at the dealer in maintenance. I got tired of German Car elitism and paying crazy maintenance costs. Sign me up for a Cadillac any day.
And how much does Miss Piggy weigh?
Actually, she’s just a puppet. Not all that heavy.
