Now in its 30th model year, the 2025 Chevy Express continues to serve as the reliable workhorse in General Motors’ commercial vehicle lineup. Despite its age and relatively unchanged design, the first-generation Express remains a fixture in its segment thanks to proven performance and durability. All that doesn’t change for the latest 2025 model year, and now, we’re taking a closer look at the 2025 Chevy Express payload capacities.
The 2025 Chevy Express offers a wide range of capacities depending on the specific configuration and engine. The 2500 Passenger Van with the regular wheelbase can carry 2,550 pounds with the V6 and 2,360 pounds with the V8. Opting for the Cargo variant with the extended wheelbase brings those figures to 3,060 pounds and 2,790 pounds, respectively.
Moving up to the 3500 series, the Passenger Van with the regular wheelbase carries 3,540 pounds with the V6 and 3,350 pounds with the V8. For extended wheelbase variants, the 3500 Passenger Van is rated at 3,210 pounds with the V6 and 3,320 pounds with the V8, while the 3500 Cargo Van can carry 4,060 pounds and 4,090 pounds, respectively.
The cutaway variants push the Chevy Express payload figures even higher. The 3500 Cutaway with a 139-inch wheelbase can carry 5,360 pounds with the V6 or 5,130 pounds with the V8. Finally, the 4500 Cutaway configurations, including both 159- and 177-inch wheelbase models, offer the highest payload capacities in the lineup, rated at 8,920 and 8,870 pounds, respectively, with the V8 engine.
