General Motors offers four brand-specific apps (myBuick, myCadillac, myChevrolet, and myGMC), each of which provides users with a number of helpful features, including remote access to their vehicles. These apps are available for smartphones (iPhone and Android), as well as Apple Watches. Notably, the GM myBrand apps recently got a key user interface update that some folks may have missed, streamlining the way users interact with remote vehicle features.
With the recent rollout of update 7.10.0, General Motors replaced the prior “press and hold” user input for issuing Remote Commands with a single-tap user input. The change, though subtle, improves usability and speeds up the overall interaction, especially for those who frequently use functions like the remote start and door lock/unlock features.
The four brand-specific GM apps are compatible with iOS, Android, and Apple Watch devices, and also provide users with critical information, such as vehicle status checks and even a more specific estimated range when fuel levels run low. In addition, the apps also offer specialized tools for electric vehicle (EV) users, such as real-time battery monitoring and route planning with charger location highlights, all of which help to ease elements of EV ownership.
Shortly after rolling out update 7.10.0, GM issued update 7.11.0 to address an issue with Apple Watch connectivity. As GM Authority reported previously, users were notified in late March that Apple Watch compatibility would be temporarily suspended while GM resolved the issue. With the release of version 7.11.0, Apple Watch users now once again have full app functionality, including features such as vehicle start/stop, horn and light activation, and door lock control.
Looking ahead, GM plans to bolster its digital offerings with a new software platform aimed at improving performance and expanding the feature list. GM has previously faced tech challenges that have impacted both its EV and internal combustion models. The automaker estimates that by 2030, revenue from software and connected services could reach upwards of $25 billion annually.

What the article failed to mention was that this service is tied to your on star account. You don’t pay, it don’t work. Simple as that. When my free subscription service ended, GM called me and tried to sell it to me. Ain’t happening. Then they said that i will lose all my functions and features for my cellphone. I told them that I didn’t use them currently. Why should I pay for said service now? Then she said that i would also lose my remote vehicle locate feature. I told her that if I cannot find my Cadillac CT5 with my last name on the license plate, it’s time for me to stop driving. End of conversation, and silence. )
Exactly ! If you don’t have OnStar active , apps are useless ! I only get a diagnostic report in my emails!
Why doesn’t GM try to have the system made available for Samsung watches, as well? It’s often assumed that everyone wears an Apple watch, and uses an iPhone, but that’s simply not the case.
I also have a Ford Focus, and the My Ford app appears on my watch, so why can’t My Chevrolet?
Agreed.
@bowtieoval
i get your point, but just remember… they literally JUST released their app to the WatchOS app store. It took years of people asking for it to happen. give them some time… I’m sure the apps will make their way over the android watches as well.
Ford, Toyota, Nissan, Kia, and Hyundai to mention a few all have Android Watch versions of the app available, I don think expecting a “leader” in the industry to have offered what is commonly available is asking too much. Respectfully..
The update will not open the login screen, therefore APP is broken. Way to go GM
