GM has filed to trademark “ZR1X,” registering the name used for the latest ultra-high-performance variant of the C8 Corvette.
The trademark was tagged with serial number 99241514 by the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO), and was filed on June 18th, 2025. As of this writing, the trademark application has been accepted by the USPTO, but has yet to be assigned to an examiner. The filing lists “Automobiles” under the Goods and Services field.
The 2026 Corvette ZR1X officially broke cover just a few days ago, showing off a new range-topping, hybrid-powered variant for the mid-engine Corvette lineup. Highlights include a whopping 1,250 horsepower on tap thanks to the combination of the twin-turbocharged 5.5L V8 LT7 gasoline engine, the same powerplant that motivates the ZR1, with a front-mounted electric motor similar in size and shape to that powering the C8 Corvette E-Ray. The LT7 is rated at 1,064 horsepower and features dynamic anti-lag tech for instant boost, while the electric motor provides an additional 186 horsepower and 145 pound-feet of torque at the front axle for all-wheel grip.
The new Corvette ZR1X was originally speculated to be called the Zora, but GM ended going with the name ZR1X instead. Despite the naming similarities to the Corvette ZR1 (as well as the mechanical similarities with the twin-turbo LT7), the ZR1X is in fact its own standalone model, rather than an optional package or upgrade for the C8 ZR1. The 2026 Corvette ZR1X will be available in two trim levels (1LZ and 3LZ) and is likely to share some of the features and equipment as equivalent ZR1 trims.
Further highlights include a sub-two-second 0-to-60 mph time, as well as a sub-nine-second quarter mile time at more than 150 mph.
Buyers will have two chassis configurations to choose from, including a touring configuration and a track configuration. Those looking for maximum performance can also opt for a carbon fiber aero package that blesses the ZR1X with 1,200 pounds of downforce at speed.
The C8 Corvette rides on the GM Y2 platform and is produced at the GM Bowling Green plant in Kentucky.

Sounds just as bad as the Toyota EV that’s since been renamed.
