A charge cord is an essential accessory for anyone buying their first EV. Unless you’re totally relying on public charging infrastructure, you’ll need a way to plug in your car at home. GM’s Dual Level Charge Cord (RPO code PSC) was a standard feature on all 2024-model-year EVs, but became a $295 option on electric Chevy and GMC models for 2025. Now, for the 2026 model year, it’s coming standard again for all GM EVs.
The following GM EV models will once again get a Dual Level Charge Cord as standard equipment for 2026. Notably, it remained a standard feature for Cadillac EVs through 2025:
- Chevy Blazer EV
- Chevy Equinox EV
- Chevy Silverado EV
- GMC Hummer EV Pickup
- GMC Hummer EV SUV
- GMC Sierra EV
This feature is a portable charge cord with 120-volt (1.4 kW) and 240-volt (7.7 kW) capability and swappable NEMA 5-15 and NEMA 14-50 plugs with SAE J1772 vehicle connection. What that means is that you can plug it into a regular, 3-prong household outlet or in a 4-prong “dryer” outlet for faster charging. The control box is mountable to a wall for tidy garage storage.
As we recently reported, the GM Dual Level Charge Cord is a piece of charging equipment that needs to be returned to the dealer at the end of a lease. The same is true of the NACS DC Adapter (LPO, RYZ). Of course, if you buy a GM EV rather than lease, you get to keep all of the options that come with the car.
A couple of other options for charging your GM EV at home are the GM PowerUp 2 charger (LPO 5CH) for $699 and the bidirectional GM Energy PowerShift Charger (LPO 5AV) for $1,699. Both of these require a hardwired connection to your house, so they don’t need to be returned at the end of a lease.
Including a free charging cord with an EV purchase seems like a no-brainer since it’s still the case that most people buying an EV don’t already have a charging cable at home. It’s nice to see GM make the right move by including it with every new EV for 2026.

As a Californian with iffy electricity, I would greatly appreciate a retrofit kit for my 2023 Bolt to do vehicle to home charging (bidirectional GM Energy PowerShift Charger).
Vehicle to Home (V2H) is one of the coolest features and advantages for electric vehicles. Presently I have a 2 kW inverter and some Anderson quick connects under hood so that I can at least power my refrigerator (for about a month) from my Bolt.
