GM has just officially appointed a new Chief Marketing Officer (CMO) for its South American operations.
The automaker announced the nomination of Gustavo Aguiar as the new CMO of GM South America, the subsidiary that leads all of the company’s operations in eight countries in the region where it has a direct presence, including Brazil, Argentina, Chile, Colombia, Peru, Ecuador, Uruguay, and Paraguay. The executive assumed the reins of the subsidiary’s Marketing department on June 14th to accelerate innovation and deepen customer connections throughout the region.
“Gustavo Aguiar’s arrival marks a new stage in GM South America’s marketing strategy, with a focus on continuous innovation, digital transformation and strengthening the brand’s relevance in consumers’ daily lives,” said GM South America in a statement. “His leadership will be decisive in driving this agenda forward with consistency, agility and forward-looking vision,” the company added.
With more than two decades of experience in strategic marketing leadership, Gustavo Aguiar takes on the role of CMO of GM South America with the goal of deepening the American company’s transformation and leadership in the new era of mobility. As such, the executive will not only lead GM’s advertising strategy and image renewal for its Chevrolet brand, but will also execute the marketing plan for the expansion of its New Energy Vehicle lineup.
GM reports that Aguiar has worked prominently in the consumer goods, technology, urban mobility, advertising, and nutrition sectors, guided by a creative, strategic, and results-oriented approach. In addition to recently leading marketing at Nestlé Brazil, the new CMO of GM’s South American subsidiary has worked at Tembici, 99, and Johnson & Johnson, as well as founded agencies and consulting firms with extensive experience in technology.
The appointment of Gustavo Aguiar as the new CMO of GM South America will open a new phase in the company’s marketing strategy in the region’s countries, as the manufacturer accelerates the arrival of new products and advanced technologies to the markets of the American subcontinent. The executive will report directly to the President and CEO of GM South America, Santiago Chamorro, and indirectly to GM’s Global CMO, Norm de Greve.
