General Motors has officially announced that it is preparing to celebrate the Chevrolet brand’s 100th anniversary in Argentina.
The automaker is about to reach a century of producing Bowtie brand vehicles in Argentina, both for local consumption and for export to other South American countries. In a press release sent to local media, GM announced the upcoming 100th anniversary in the country where sales are growing and new investments are being made.
“This year, Chevrolet brand celebrates 100 years in Argentina. This milestone represents a century of shared history with generations of Argentinian who chose and continue to choose our brand as a part of their lives,” said GM South America President and CEO, Santiago Chamorro. “In addition to looking back with pride, turning 100 means renewing our commitment to the Argentinian, continuing to grow together, and building the country’s mobility future,” he added.
Summarizing the company’s extensive history since the establishment of its first production plant in Argentina in 1925, GM’s top regional executive highlighted Chevrolet’s strong footprint in the Argentine automotive industry and the brand’s impact on millions of customers across the country. The announcement serves as a preview of the brand’s official centennial celebration, scheduled for the second half of the calendar year.
In addition, the GM South America leader revealed that Chevrolet will launch more new products in the second half of the year to become the brand with the freshest model portfolio in Argentina in 2025. The product onslaught to celebrate 100 years of operations in the country will include the renewal of several popular models and the sales start of a new line of electric vehicles, as well as the imminent launch of the updated Chevy Tracker manufactured at the GM Alvear plant.
“We are currently investing to refurbish the plant to produce the next-generation Chevrolet Tracker, another model that has become an icon of our brand, a leader for two consecutive years in the SUV category and which remains at the top of its segment in 2025, spearheading Chevrolet’s growth this year,” Chamorro finished.
