The last time a Corvette Racing team attempted the 24 Hours of Spa, the biggest GT3 race in the world, the sole Corvette competitor didn’t even finish the race. That was way back in 2011, but now, the Corvette Z06 GT3.R racers are readying themselves for a return to the grueling 24-hour race for the first time in almost 14 years.
Two Corvette Racing teams are headed for Spa-Francorchamps this weekend. Johor Motorsports (JMR) and Steller Motorsports are each fielding a Corvette Z06 GT3.R. Factory driver Alexander Sims is a familiar sight behind the wheel of the purpose-built racer, fresh off a second-place result at Watkins Glen, teaming up with Jordan Love, Prince Jefri Ibrahim, and Prince Abu Bakar Ibrahim. They’ll share the No. 2 Vette, fielded by JMR.
Meanwhile, the No. 24 Vette will be shared between Matisse Lismont, Lorcan Hanafin, Daniel Ali, and Olivier Hart, supported by Steller Racing. Both teams have already made a name for themselves this year. JMR has two victories under its belt in the GT World Challenge Asia, with Prince Jefri Ibrahim leading the series Drivers Championship. Steller, meanwhile, boasts a second-place Silver-class finish in the GT World Challenge Europe, earned in its first outing with Corvette Racing machinery.
“The launch of our Corvette GT3 program opened the door to a number of new possibilities to see the Corvette Z06 GT3.R race around the world,” said Jessica Dane, Corvette Racing program manager.
“The Spa 24 Hours ranks very close to – if not at – the top of that list. We are excited to see JMR and Steller Motorsport take Corvette back to the largest GT3 race in the world for the first time in almost 15 years. Both teams are well-prepared following the Spa Prologue, and we hope to see them challenging for the podium and class victories come Sunday.”
The 2025 24 Hours of Spa is scheduled for June 25th through June 29th.
