Chevy Silverado EV Bed Caps Are Hard To Find

For pickup owners, bed caps are a rather sensible upgrade, offering secure, weather-resistant storage and added utility for everything from tools to weekend camping gear. As such, it would make sense to offer a bed cap regardless of the powertrain in use – including for the Chevy Silverado EV. That said, finding a compatible bed cap for the all-electric Silverado EV could prove to be a major challenge.

GM Authority only managed to find one bed cap compatible with the Chevy Silverado EV, namely the Leer DCC. This commercial-grade bed cap is built from .035 aluminum and features a TIG-welded internal cage, aluminum base rails, an external LED third brake light, and an integrated DCC fuse box. It’s also covered by a five-year limited structural warranty and is primarily designed for work applications.

However, the Leer DCC is only compatible with the Silverado EV Work Truck (WT) trim. According to Leer, it does not fit other trims such as the LT, RST, or Trail Boss. Compounding the issue, the Silverado EV WT doesn’t offer the Multi-Flex Midgate passthrough (RPO code ESG), which allows cabin-to-bed access, which could further complicate the fit and relevance of a bed cap.

Back in 2022, Chevrolet teased a wide range of Silverado EV accessories, including what appeared to be official bed caps shown in an early promotional video. However, that video has since been removed, and for now, no GM-designed bed caps have come to market. Despite early renderings and product promises, the automaker has yet to deliver a solution.

The lack of a bed cap for the Silverado EV creates something of a disconnect. The all-electric Silverado is framed as a full-function electric pickup and is intended to mirror the utility of internal combustion counterparts. But without standard pickup accessories like bed caps, the EV’s capability feels somewhat incomplete.

Which raises an interesting question – should the Chevy Silverado EV offer bed caps across the lineup? Let us know what you think by posting in the comments!

  1. Wouldn’t have happened if it had a diesel.

  2. I wouldn’t be surprised if they were released shortly after the off road versions hit the lots which is now 6/7/25. The GMC EV AT4 should be on the website on 6/10/25 from what I have read. A cab with solar on the roof with the mid gate and off road set up would be the ultimate setup.

  3. I have yet to meet anyone who would use an EV for work. Like most they find it too much of a hassle.

  4. GM said should supply these. For people that have purchased these vehicles. It’s rather c***** that we have a $100000 truck with a cheap $200 cover on it? I hate this damn bed cover. GM should be ashamed.. Mine has failed twice and if it goes a third time I mean, claim the California Lemon law.

  5. If GM does not offer factory bed cap for Silverado similar to original marketting CGI materials – where Outfitter and DIYer could find the instructions how to open the plastic sails and rear cab spoiler to beable to offer a better fitment for folks who desperatly looking to build a bed cap for themselves ?

  6. that Leer cap won’t work in climate with lots of snow and rain – the way that cap is wedged under the rear cab spoiler rather than be on the same level or replace the plastic Spoiler and plastic Sail Fins – agree need an outfitter manual to open these plastic parts…
