For many Chevy customers, their Bow Tie-branded vehicle isn’t just a way to move passengers from A to B – it’s also a great way to get a boat to the launch. Now, Malibu Boats has announced that it is extending its partnership with GM.
For those readers who may be unaware, Malibu Boats is a leading recreational boat brand in the U.S., with a focus on watersport towboats for activities like wakeboarding and water skiing. Now, Malibu Boats has announced the continuation of its partnership with General Motors, naming Chevrolet as the Official Vehicle Brand of Malibu Boats.
The collaboration also extends to Malibu’s exclusive relationship with GM Marine, which provides the foundation for Malibu’s Monsoon Line of boat engines. Built using GM engine blocks, these engines are specially modified by Malibu’s in-house engineering team to meet the unique needs of boating. The engines are designed to reduce corrosion, improve reliability and sound control, and offer strong performance and fuel economy. The GM-sourced engines power Malibu and Axis Boats.
Malibu Boats states that Chevrolet is a natural fit for the partnership, as many boat owners already relying on Chevy vehicles like the Silverado, Tahoe, and Suburban to tow their boats.
“We’re honored to be named the official vehicle brand of Malibu boats. Both our brands rely on GM’s reliable engines to get customers where they need to go – whether it be on land or on the water,” said GM Director of Marketing at Chevrolet, Amy Masica.
Chevy and Malibu Boats will continue to work together on events throughout the year, including the Malibu Just Ride Tour, Malibu Rider Experience Series, WakeFest TN, and other programs designed to connect with customers and dealers nationwide. Malibu Boats announced last year that the annual Just Ride Tour would include the 2025 Chevy Silverado 3500HD High Country and Malibu Wakesetter 24 MXZ. Notably, the Monsoon engine lineup includes the supercharged 6.2L V8 LT4 gasoline engine, which is adapted for marine use and delivers more than 600 horsepower.

Malibu boats must be really fond of redundancy; they put in all that effort to include a backup anchor.
