Chevy Dealer Inventory Continues To Drop In April 2025

As the Trump administration’s import tariffs cause uncertainty on the automotive market, U.S. consumers have seemingly accelerated their new-car shopping as dealer inventories have once again dropped in April 2025, which includes Chevy dealerships.

According to the latest data provided by Cox Automotive, Chevrolet had a 60 days supply during the month of April 2025, a drop from the 66 days supply figure recorded the month before. Inventory also dropped from April 2024’s 70 days supply, a 14-percent slide.

A graph showing dealer inventory by brand. Chevy dealerships had a 60 days supply in April 2025.

As a reminder, the industry sees a 60 days supply as optimal for offering consumers choice while not overloading dealers with units that might linger on their lots and require hefty incentives to move out.

Among GM brands, Chevrolet dealer inventory is the lowest, followed by GMC with a 71 days supply, Buick with a 76 days supply and Cadillac with an 83 days supply. Meanwhile, the industry average stands at 66 days, down from a 70 days supply in March 2025.

Comparing Q1 sales to current available in-stock and in-transit Chevrolet vehicles across U.S. dealerships, the ICE Chevy Blazer, Chevy Traverse, Chevy Tahoe and Chevy Trax are the models with the lowest inventory levels. At the other end of the spectrum, the Chevy Blazer EV, Chevy Silverado EV and Chevy Equinox EV have the highest inventory levels.

Cox Automotive stated that there were 2.49 million new vehicles in inventory across U.S. dealers on May 1st, 2025, compared to 2.69 million units on April 1st, representing a 7.4-percent decrease. Inventory is also down 10.5 percent compared to May 1st, 2024. The analysis also mentions that showroom traffic peaked in mid-April and slowed down during the last two weeks of the month, possibly indicating that consumers are turning back to a “more-measured car buying approach.”

Lastly, the average listing price for new vehicles at the end of April was $48,656, a 1.6-percent increase compared to the beginning of the month and a 2.8-percent jump compared to the end of April 2024. The Chevrolet brand’s average transaction price climbed slightly in April 2025, reaching $48,424.

  1. Sure not the case around here. One dealer has a bunch of Trax with $5K off and not a one has moved since early March. Lower-end buyers are clearly scared and have been. Seeing the same thing with Encores, Envistas and Trailblazers.

  3. I drove by the large Chevy dealer near me and I was surprised by the low inventory on their lot.
