The GM Authority Take

Chevrolet Argentina sales registered a significant year-over-year increase in May. The solid double-digit growth represents the sixth consecutive monthly increase in sales in Argentina and the second consecutive month when it has surpassed 4,000 deliveries. This level of performance puts the Bow Tie brand in line with the local market average for May, while Chevy’s year-to-date growth rate is surpassing it.

In fact, all vehicles offered by Chevrolet in Argentina managed to increase sales volume in May. Much like during the prior month, only two discontinued models – the Chevy Cruze and Equinox – were in the red.

May’s performance was led by a healthy increase in sales of the best-selling Chevy Tracker. With nearly 1,500 deliveries, this not only makes it the most popular vehicle for GM in the country, but also the best-selling model in the country’s subcompact crossover segment.

Meanwhile, the Chevy Onix remained Chevrolet’s most prominent nameplate in Argentina, adding over 1,000 additional sales to the bottom line – the most of any Bow Tie model (on a year-over-year basis). In fact, the Onix continued to close the gap with the Tracker by positioning itself ever closer as the second best-selling model in the Chevy’s local portfolio.

Additionally, the Chevy S10 once again exceeded 500 sales during May, while the Chevy Montana was the fastest growing model, posting a four-digit percentage increase.
