Competitive Sales Comparison (USA)

Cadillac XT6 sales in Q1 2025 put the luxury three-row crossover in 11th place among 14 entries in the luxury E-utility segment when ranked by sales volume.

The BMW X5 led the field with a 17 percent uptick to 17,438 units, while the Mercedes-Benz GLE-Class placed second with a seven percent dip for 14,026 sales, and the Buick Enclave (see running Buick Enclave sales) took third, posting a 37 percent jump with 11,067 deliveries. Next up was the Lexus GX in fourth, with sales essentially flat at 10,045 units. Even though it’s a traditional, body-on-frame SUV like the Cadillac Escalade, it’s closer to the XT6 in terms of size. The Volvo XC90 followed in fifth place with a five percent upswing moving 9,369 units.

Meanwhile, the XT6 (see running Cadillac XT6 sales) placed 11th with a four percent bump for 4,778 deliveries. Crosstown rival Lincoln Aviator (see running Lincoln Aviator sales) followed in 12th with a 24 percent drop in sales to 4,769 units.

The GM Authority Take

Sales of the retiring Cadillac XT6 fell short of the average segment performance during the first quarter of the year, but did outpace crosstown rival Lincoln Aviator. The XT6’s corporate cousin, the Buick Enclave, placed third, enabling GM to keep third place overall when combining sales of the two GM models.

GM Authority was first to report that the Cadillac XT6 will be dropped after the 2025 model year, and has recently confirmed its discontinuation. Consequently, production of the 2025 XT6 at the GM Spring Hill plant in Tennessee ended on November 26th.

In its place will be the first-ever, all-electric 2026 Cadillac Vistiq, adding a fresh three-row crossover to the luxury marque’s growing EV portfolio.

We expect XT6 sales to continue in the red as the model is discontinued and inventory dwindles.

About Cadillac XT6

The 2025 Cadillac XT6 arrives with a few small changes and updates over the preceding 2024 model year, including these three things that are new and different.

Other features include the GM Super Cruise hands-free semi-autonomous driver assistance system now offered as part of the Platinum Package, available on both the Premium Luxury and Sport trim levels. This is how much the three-row crossover can tow.

Here are all the 2025 Cadillac XT6 colors, the interior colorways, and available wheels.

  1. Cadillac is so out of touch with today’s market and their customer base. Heck, just kill the XT6 and bring on another EV. With nothing soon left ICE except the Escalade, as the CT4 and CT5 are on the bubble , sales will plummet as their traditional customers have nothing to buy. Glad we got our 2024 XT4 Premium Luxury last August. We love it and friends also. Sadly, will be our first and last Cadillac it appears.

    1. I think that’s kind of what the Vistiq is intended to do.

  2. Past its expiration date for a redesign and NOT by an EV.

  3. Cadillac missed a major opportunity with the XT6. The vehicle was never given the investment or attention it deserved. Had GM properly developed it, the XT6 could have been a huge success — a true “baby Escalade.” Instead, it was built on a front-wheel-drive Buick platform and simply rebadged with a Cadillac emblem, falling short of the brand’s luxury image.

The assumption seemed to be that EV sales would take off fast enough to render further development of the XT6 unnecessary. That assumption was clearly premature.

The XT6 is still a viable product and worth keeping in the lineup, but it desperately needs a refresh. A meaningful update that includes Cadillac’s latest design language — which is excellent — along with a hybrid powertrain, would reposition the XT6 as a serious contender in its segment.

With those improvements, it could finally become what it should have been from the start: a segment-leading luxury three-row SUV that lives up to the Cadillac name.

  4. When you have a defeatist attitude of “just good enough” and fail to treat your American market the same way you do your golden Chinese market, such as bringing to the US market a redesigned XT5, then you have ZERO grounds to complain. The XT6 is a great vehicle. But buyers notice when a model is neglected by the brand and those that aren’t ready to make the jump to electric, like myself will simply look elsewhere if Cadillac doesn’t have anything to offer in the field of what I am looking for.

  5. Sad how much GM neglected the XT6. Still looks nice if they redesign the interior and update super cruise and add a V line it’d be back popular. Not everyone wants EV

  6. Where’s The Acura MDX in the list? That’s a 3 row luxury SUV. And a pretty high selling one at that. Also don’t see the GLS. The original 3-row from MB.

    1. This list is confusing. No X8, no Escalade, but the GX is included?

  7. The XT6 was DOA the minute is was shown to the public let alone when it went on sale.
It was a decade old (Bare Minimum) the minute it was presented…..good riddance.
The Vistiq is a Faaaaaaaar superior vehicle in every single way and commands a much higher transactional price point for GM.
Great job on the transition by the GM team with Cadillac going BEV and having higher prices for each segment they now compete in.

What most do not understand is that consumers will get used to these new price levels and understand that Cadillac is no longer a bargain basement luxury brand and when they release their All New BEV Platform in the next two years, they will be making a nice profit going forward.

Again I cannot stress enough the great job that GM has done with this last effort to save Cadillac. Nice job by everyone.
We finally have Cadillac being a true tier one luxury brand again….no more excuses for choosing a Cadillac over the German Big Three!!!

  8. I always wanted to own one of these but they are too expensive used.

  9. I have a 2024 XT6 Premium Luxury, Platinum and I love it !!! The problem is that the XT6 has never been appropriately supported. It’s a typical Cadillac BLUNDER. They build a GREAT car and let it die. They did it with the CTS, the CT6, and now the XT6. If the XT6 were redesigned with the same design language as the “China only” XT5 and properly promoted, it would a very successful product in the Cadillac portfolio.

  10. Cadillac needs to get their head out of their butt! Making CT6 & XT6 only for China is ANTI AMERICAN! The new tariffs may kill sales overseas! I would & many other people here in the USA will buy these models if you stop selling overseas only! STUPID!!!!
