The GM Authority Take

Cadillac XT4 sales were nothing to write home about during the first quarter of 2025, placing seventh among 10 entries, even behind crosstown rival Lincoln Corsair.

Since XT4 production ended in January, Q4 2024 was the last full quarter of production. While it’s possible that inventory has begun to dry up during Q1 to negatively impact sales volume, the full impact of the model’s discontinuation will likely be reflected during Q2. Sunsetting the XT4 in North America means that the refreshed model will have lasted just two model years.

The XT4 is being indirectly replaced by the all-electric Cadillac Optiq, which just added the high-performance Optiq-V variant. Notably, the Escalade-V is the only ICE-based Cadillac utility offered as a V-Series model. We look forward to seeing if the Optiq will become a better seller than the XT4 for GM and Cadillac, especially given the V-Series option.

About Cadillac XT4

The 2025 Cadillac XT4 arrives with more standard safety features than the refreshed 2024 model, including the Active Safety Package, offered as standard on Premium Luxury and Sport trim levels. However, it will drop two safety features: Automatic Speed Limit Assist and Traffic Sign Recognition. Also, the 2025 XT4 drops the Luxury trim level, with the Premium Luxury becoming the entry-level trim.

Under the hood, the 2025 XT4 carries over the turbocharged 2.0L I4 LSY gasoline engine, producing 235 horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque. It is mated to the GM nine-speed automatic transmission for both front-wheel- and all-wheel-drive configurations, with the latter featuring GM’s Intelligent Dual-Clutch AWD system. The 2025 XT4 can tow up to 3,500 pounds when equipped with the Trailering Package.

  1. I hope Cadillac chokes on their remaining xt4 inventory. I had a 2018 and like it. Wanted a 2025 sport but when they pulled the plug i went another direction. Was a big wadte to redesign in 24 and then dump it. Cant really call the 25 model a full year production, they lied about holding while retooling the factory then resume production. I dont think they were ever planning on resuming, thays why i say choke on your inventory

  3. I was seriously contemplating replacing my 23 Envision Avenir for one of the redesigned XT4’s just to get the features that were “constrained” for all but the first year of the Envision second generation! (Rainsense wipers, power lumbar, massaging seats, puddle lights) as it is, the only vehicles I’m seriously interested in are used GM vehicles as I hate the new GMC tablet dash, and would like either a new Yukon XL or a Sierra. Considering I’m not spending $100,000 on a vehicle that I know for a fact costs less than $40,000 to build, it’s most definitely going to be used and/or from a different manufacturer! Pathetic management!

  4. I bought my first Cadillac in February, the 2025 XT-4. I always wanted one and since they announced it was done, I didn’t hesitate. My driving needs will never be met by an EV at this point. It’s the nicest vehicle I’ve owned.

  5. Love our 2024 XT4 Premium Luxury bought last August. What a nothing article. Of course sales have dropped. They quit making them in January 2025! The Memphis dealer has gone from about 20 on the lot recently to 2 today. You can’t sell what has been dropped for long.
