The 2025 Six Hours of the Glen started in an extreme downpour and ended in blistering heat, challenging teams through rain and shine. But at the end of the six-hour sprint, fuel mileage was the name of the game – and unfortunately, Cadillac Racing was on the wrong end of things when the checkers fell.
The No. 31 Cadillac V-Series.R of Jack Aitken, Earl Bamber, and Federik Vesti held the lead as the end of the race loomed. However, with two minutes left, Bamber – who had control of the race car at the time – realized the Caddy would not make it to the end of the race on fuel. Unfortunately, Bamber was forced to surrender the lead just before the white flag waved, diving into the pits for a splash of energy.
The result was a fifth-place finish for the No. 31 Cadillac Racing team. It was a devastating result for the trio, considering that at one point, they held a 10-second advantage over the second-place machine. However, a short, inopportune caution with just minutes left at the race meant the pits stayed closed, meaning that Bamber could not pit under yellow to refuel.
Their misfortune allowed the No. 40 Cadillac V-Series.R of Jordan Taylor and Louis Deletraz to sneak into second place, followed by Ricky Taylor and Filipe Albuquerque in the No. 10 V-Series.R rounding out the podium. It was the first double podium result for Wayne Taylor Racing, a positive result despite missing out on the top spot when the checkers waved. The No. 60 Acura ARX-06 won the race.
“I think the call to pit kind of made our race, coming in before the yellow,” said Jordan Taylor after the race. “Great to get the first double podium for Wayne Taylor Racing and it feels like we’ve kind of turned the corner on the bad luck we’ve had this year.”
