The 100-minute Detroit Sports Car Classic was one hell of an uphill battle for the Cadillac Racing teams. But by the time the clock ticked down and the checkered flag fell, the No. 10 Cadillac V-Series.R, fielded by Wayne Taylor Racing, leveraged in-race strategy to nab the runner-up spot in the GTP class on May 31st, 2025.
Filipe Albuquerque and Ricky Taylor shared the wheel of the No. 10 V-Series.R on Saturday. The nine-turn course took competitors around the GM Renaissance Center, and Albuquerque took the first stint. He gained three spots in the first corner, and was able to take the class lead when all other competitors pitted. Then, the No. 10 Cadillac Racing team pitted with 54 minutes left, swapping the controls to Taylor and filling the tank with enough fuel to propel them to the checkered flag.
From there, Taylor kept the class-leading Porsche in his sights, cutting the gap to 0.396 seconds within the final 15 minutes of the sprint. Pulling the No. 93 Acura through with him, Taylor overtook the Porsche and got to work fending off the Acura. Unfortunately, inside the final five minutes of the race, the No. 10 Cadillac Racing machine fell in behind that Acura, ultimately crossing the line in P2 – a good result, but it still stung.
“A little sadness from me because we were so close to our first win with Cadillac in the GM race with everybody here,” Taylor said. To get the 100th Cadillac podium in IMSA prototype competition feels amazing, but that one step would have been nice.”
“Congratulations to Cadillac Racing team and the No. 10 Cadillac Wayne Taylor Racing V-Series.R on their second place in the Chevrolet Detroit Sports Car Classic. Every member of the team can be proud of their efforts on preparing the racecar for success, from both a technology and durability standpoint,” said John Roth, vice president, Global Cadillac.
The No. 40 Cadillac Racing team finished ninth, followed by the No. 31 V-Series.R in 10th. As a reminder, four Caddy teams will race in the 24 Hours of Le Mans in a few weeks.

The GTP teams are the toughest ever. With so many manufacturers in the race just finishing is a win of sorts. I watched Taylor get pass at the end and truly he got aced but had that not happened he would have won. You never know how one corner will end up in that kind of competition but keep your heads high. Wished the other Cadillac teams had done better. Cadillacs are still by far the best looking and the blue on Taylor’s car looked great. Keep up the great colors. The fading colors also look great as well. Colors also make lot much easier to follow as it is hard to see the numbers and track the different cars. The announcers shift between posting the car numbers and manufacturers. It would be great if the manufacturer emblem showed all the time. Maybe as a background behind the position, number or driver name.
