General Motors has issued a safety recall affecting the all-electric Cadillac Lyriq crossover to address a possible defect that may cause the driver video display to go blank while driving. The recall is tagged with GM Recall Number N25250068 and NHTSA campaign number 25V356.
The problem: According to the recall, some units of the Cadillac Lyriq may display a blank driver video readout while driving, resulting in the loss of critical safety information.
The hazards: If the digital driver display is blank, the driver will be unable to view critical safety information such as the speedometer, warning lights, or rearview camera image. The loss of these systems may increase the risk of a crash.
The fix: Owners will receive a free software update to address the issue. Vehicles capable of receiving over-the-air (OTA) updates will be able to install the fix remotely, provided the owner has agreed to GM’s digital services terms. Others may visit a dealership for the updated software.
Affected components: This recall is intended to address an issue with the infotainment and virtual cockpit unit, as well as the software used to run those components.
Affected vehicles: This recall affects units of the 2024 Cadillac Lyriq produced between January of 2023 and September of 2024, as well as units of the 2023 Cadillac Lyriq produced between March of 2022 and February of 2023.
