Competitive Sales Comparison (USA)

Cadillac CT4 sales in Q1 2025 place it second to last among just five entries in a shrinking segment when ranked by sales volume.

The Acura Integra was at the top, as it has been for more than a year, even though sales fell 28 percent to 4,680 units. The BMW 2 Series, made up of two mechanically distinct models – the two-door Coupe and four-door Gran Coupé – followed in second place with a 29 percent swell to 4,548 units. The Audi A3  was third with a 39 percent drop to 2,260 units, while the CT4 (see running Cadillac CT4 sales) took fourth with a 30 percent slide to 1,214 units. The Mercedes-Benz CLA-Class rounded out this short list as sales were flat at less than one percent to 615 deliveries. The discontinued Mercedes-Benz A-Class dropped off the list during Q1.

The CT4 earned a nine percent segment share, down two percentage points year-over-year. The Integra led with a 35 segment share, down five percentage points, while the 2 Series posted a 34 percent share, up 12 percentage points, and the A3 held a 17 percent share, down six percentage points. The CLA-Class had a five percent share, up one percentage point.

The luxury C segment contracted 18 percent to 13,317 units in Q1 2025, meaning CT4 sales underperformed the segment average.

The GM Authority Take

Cadillac CT4 sales continued to be subpar, in much the same way as most of the segment, though with substantially lower volume than the Integra and 2 Series.

We suspect that the reason for the ongoing decrease in CT4 sales is two-fold: marketing, with not enough shoppers aware of the CT4’s existence, and product, as the small luxury sedan desperately in need of a revamped cockpit with bigger screens.

GM Authority recently has confirmed that there will be a 2026 Cadillac CT4, though it will be largely unchanged since the 2020 model year – the model’s launch year. Meanwhile, the slightly bigger sibling, the Cadillac CT5, received a refresh for the “regular” CT5 as well as the CT5-V and the CT5-V Blackwing for the 2025 model year, bringing with Cadillac’s massive 33-inch curved screen that spans the instrument panel and center stack screen.

The CT4 is still Cadillac’s worst-selling model in the U.S., this time moving even less units than the luxury marque’s newest model – the subcompact Cadillac Optiq crossover. Even so, the Cadillac CT4-V Blackwing is among Car and Driver’s 10Best Cars for 2025.

  1. Well, as usual, zero advertising dollars spent in sedans. GM could have swapped out the extinct Camaro for the CT4 in NASCAR (it would simply be a decal package anyway – cheapest advertising on the planet). Product placement in movies and games? Perhaps work with SCCA to create something like they did with the IROC Z? Anything but silence and subsequent bewilderment at dwindling sales

  2. And they will soon drop it for “poor sales” that they created like Camaro, Impala, Malibu, etc. An all electric Cadillac except for Escalade ICE will kill the brand’s sales.

  3. This excellent vehicle is still selling well when its advertising budget is zero, it is Mary Buick Envision Made in China-Barra’s goal to pull the plug on this vehicle and replace it with an EV that will cost $20,000-$25,000 more, despite this EV having a huge advertising budget, it will sell poorly compared with this vehicle.

  4. They should turn the CT4 into a Buick (and/or a possible Pontiac) as the CT5 should be the smallest Cadillac sedan offered..

  5. Looking on the bright side. Its sales were double MB 🙃

  6. Rebadge it as the 2027 Malibu SS and sales will increase…

  7. Besides lack of advertising, reduced power for the 2.0 in 2020, dealers not stocking it
in favor of the V + BW, dealers pushing EV, etc.

However, I would think any Cadillac owner would know by now about CT4/CT5.

  8. I just purchased a 25 CT4V, my second one, and I just can’t figure out why it’s such a poor seller. Yes, a little interior refresh would have been nice, but it doesn’t change the fact that this is a great car. The design is still fresh, unique and beautiful (IMHO) and the power train is perfect. I’m not sure why Cadillac continues to let this car go unnoticed and unadvertised. I think it has real potential, or did at one time. Am I that out of the mainstream of the car buying public by loving this car?

    1. Totally agree…a sneaky best ride! I had two ATS manuals before getting into a CT4-V and I have no regrets. Nice not seeing myself on every street corner with all the German rides!

  9. The well regarded impression of the high-zoot BW iteration of this vehicle fails to trickle down to lower trim levels.

Thus market perception or lack thereof contributes to this model’s demise. Cadillac mucked up the positioning of this vehicle from the get-go; it’s forebear (ATS) was originally introduced as a D-segment vehicle. Its replacement (the CT4) is positioned as a C-segment vehicle based on pricing-not sizing. That cheapens the luxury perception of the vehicle.

It seems purposeful by GM that this vehicle dies a slow and steady death to validate not dedicating engineering dollars to a thorough update or replacement.

The ATS and CTS were anything but great in the sales volume department but IMO they were solid entries that could’ve been improved upon in their next iteration.

Styling wise the additional 4 inches added to the front-end of the CT4 to accommodate the Escala design language renders what was a previously taut and balanced design into awkwardness.
