Brand-New 2026 Chevy Groove Makes International Debut

As GM Authority exclusively reported earlier this year, General Motors has just revealed the brand-new second-generation 2026 Chevy Groove for the international market.

The automaker officially unveiled the new 2026 Chevy Groove, introducing the second generation of the entry-level subcompact crossover it has been successfully selling internationally since mid-2020 – when the small utility vehicle was first introduced in South America. This time, the presentation was held jointly by GM’s Mexico and Middle East subsidiaries, which announced the new 2026 Groove simultaneously.

“Chevrolet has officially revealed the bran-new 2026 Groove, a significantly upgraded subcompact SUV designed to meet the evolving needs of first-time buyers, young professionals, and growing families,” said GM a statement. “Building on the first-generation model’s success, 2026 Groove debuts with a bold new design, a redefined trim strategy, and a stronger focus on power, comfort, connectivity, and safety,” the company added.

Notably, the new 2026 Chevy Groove shares a design language and is directly related to the brand’s entry-level Chevy Aveo/Sail/Optra in several regions around the world. As such, both vehicles were designed and developed by the SAIC-GM-Wuling (SGMW) joint venture in China on a common platform for affordable subcompact vehicles.

While utilizing an updated version of the outgoing model’s architecture, the second-generation 2026 Chevy Groove has been completely redesigned with a more refined design and improved technology to strengthen its position in the Latin American, Middle Eastern, and African markets. Additionally, the 2026 Groove adopts a new trim level strategy and debuts the sporty RS trim level for the first time on the nameplate.

Mechanically, the 2026 Chevy Groove also sees significant improvements, equipped with a more modern turbocharged 1.5L engine that develops 149 horsepower and 188 pound-feet of torque, which is standard on all trim levels. This represents a 52-percent output increase over the naturally aspirated 1.5L engine found in the first-generation model. The engine can be paired with either a six-speed manual transmission or a continuously variable automatic transmission.

The brand-new 2026 Chevy Groove will go on sale in Latin America during the third quarter of the year. The 2026 Groove stands out in its segment with advanced technologies and driver assistance features, including a standard 10.25-inch infotainment system display, a digital driver instrument cluster, adaptive cruise control, forward collision warning with autonomous emergency braking, lane-keeping assist, and traffic jam assist.

  3. What happens to GM international line up of China invades Taiwan? Might be smart for GM to ally w/Renault for cheap Dacia cars. A Vietnamese or Indian auto maker could also fill the role.

US needs inexpensive cars and I don’t care if sub $20,000 vehicles are imported. Fills the old school Chevy Spirit, Yugo, Dodge Omni space for first time buyers.
Design language is satisfying meeting industry trends.
