American Expedition Vehicles (AEV) is now offering its rugged off-road-ready front bumper for the 2023+ Chevy Colorado ZR2, giving enthusiasts a chance to enhance their pickup with added functionality and styling. Originally reserved for the Colorado ZR2 Bison, the front bumper is now available as a standalone upgrade.
Constructed from stamped galvanized steel, the AEV Colorado off-road front bumper is built for strength, with material that is 3mm thick around the outer panels and 6mm thick around the integrated winch mount. The bumper also features a textured black e-coat and powder coat finish, the combination of which meets and exceeds GM’s corrosion protection standards. The part has also been OEM-validated, passing GM’s factory-spec vibration and crash test protocols, while offering superior fitment as well.
The AEV bumper includes a fully integrated winch mount designed for the COMEUP Slim 9.5rs Winch Kit, ensuring easy access to the winch clutch handle and providing a clear visual opening for winch line inspection. Additional enhancements include fog light compatibility and an integrated block heater connection.
Buyers can also opt for an AEV Radiator Skid Plate ($375), which is made of hot-stamped boron steel and provides improved lower-radiator protection. While the skid plate is not required for bumper installation, it’s strongly recommended, as it provides attachment points for bumper closeout panels that reduce water and debris intrusion.
The bumper is available for $3,250 and is compatible with additional accessories such as the closeout kit and winch kit. Installation is rated at a “Moderate” difficulty level, with an estimated install time of about eight hours. A set of fender flares aren’t required, but AEV suggests them for a more integrated final appearance.
