2026 GMC Hummer EV Pickup Gets Increased Payload Capacities

The 2026 GMC Hummer EV was unveiled last month, with GM showing off a host of updates and changes. Among the most noteworthy updates is a substantial increase in payload capacity when compared to the preceding 2025 model year. Critically, both the 2X and 3X boast a substantial payload increase.

Looking over the numbers, the 2026 GMC Hummer EV Pickup 2X variant now supports a maximum payload of 1,760 pounds (798 kilograms), up from 1,485 pounds (674 kilograms) for the 2025 model year. Meanwhile, the 2026 Hummer EV 3X trim receives a similarly significant upgrade, jumping from 1,300 pounds (590 kilograms) to 1,600 pounds (726 kilograms).

GM Authority reached out to GM for an explanation as to how these payload improvements were achieved, but has yet to receive a reply.

Further highlights for the 2026 model year include the Carbon Fiber Edition, an exclusive, limited-run model available in both the Pickup and SUV body style. The Carbon Fiber Edition features unique styling, as well as updated propulsion calibration, software tuning, and hardware upgrades. Plant your foot to the floor, and the 2026 Hummer EV Carbon Fiber Edition will hit 60 mph in just 2.8 seconds, two-tenths quicker than the standard model.

Off-road enthusiasts will also enjoy King Crab mode. Equipped as standard on all 2X and 3X trims, King Crab model enables the rear wheels to turn more quickly than the front wheels, and as a result, provides a significant improvement to low-speed agility. This feature will roll out to units of the Hummer EV produced prior to the 2026 model year via an over-the-air (OTA) update later in the 2025 calendar year.

All variants of the GMC Hummer EV ride on the GM BT1 platform and are assembled at the GM Factory Zero plant in Michigan. The start of regular production (SORP) for the 2026 model year is scheduled to begin July 14th, 2025, as GM Authority covered previously.
