2026 Chevy Silverado HD ZR2 Gets More Standard Features

Originally introduced for the 2024 model year, the Chevy Silverado HD ZR2 has quickly carved out a niche as one of the fastest-selling trims in the Silverado HD lineup, all thanks to its signature blend of heavy-duty capability and off-road prowess. Now, the heavy-duty Silverado ZR2 returns for the 2026 model year to once again offer that same heady cocktail. This time, however, the 2026 Silverado HD ZR2 is equipped with more standard equipment than the preceding 2025 model year.

Heading into the 2026 model year, the heavy-duty Silverado ZR2 is now equipped with the Technology Package (RPO code CWM) and Multi-Flex Tailgate (RPO code QK2) as standard features. Both items were previously offered as optional extras, carrying a combined price of $2,100 for the 2025 model year ($1,840 for the Tech Package and $260 for the Multi-Flex Tailgate). Now, with both items included as standard, the 2026 Silverado HD ZR2 will likely get an MSRP hike as well.

Standard content now includes (relevant RPO codes listed in parentheses):

  • Rear Camera Mirror (DRZ)
  • Multicolor 15-inch Diagonal Head-Up Display (UV6)
  • Adaptive Cruise Control (KSG)
  • Multi-Flex Tailgate (QK2)

Notably, the new standard content aligns the heavy-duty Silverado ZR2 with its light-duty counterpart, the Silverado 1500 ZR2, which has also expanded its list of standard features with similar upgrades.

As of October 2024, the Silverado HD ZR2 averaged just 20 days on dealer lots – far below the 60-day industry benchmark for optimal inventory turnover, highlighting continued demand for the heavy-duty off-road pickup.

With regard to those off-roader credentials, the heavy-duty Silverado ZR2 features:

  • Multimatic DSSV dampers
  • Rear electronic locking differentials
  • 35-inch Goodyear Wrangler Territory MT tires
  • Enhanced approach, breakover, and departure angles

As was the case in previous years, the 2026 Silverado HD ZR2 is offered exclusively in the 2500 Series Crew Cab configuration.

Standard power comes from the naturally aspirated 6.6L V8 L8T gasoline engine, delivering 401 horsepower and 464 pound-feet of torque, while the optional 6.6L V8 L5P turbodiesel Duramax delivers 470 horsepower and 975 pound-feet of torque. Both engines mate to the Allison-branded 10-speed automatic transmission, while a more-capable variant of the GM T1 platform provides the underpinnings.
