2026 Chevy Equinox EV Loses This Handy Front Passenger Seat Feature

The 2026 Chevy Equinox EV introduces a few modest updates compared to the preceding 2025 Equinox EV, ushering in the all-electric crossover’s third model year. Among the changes is deletion of one handy front passenger seat feature, as GM Authority is covering right here.

More specifically, the 2026 Chevy Equinox EV drops the six-way manual seat adjuster (RPO code A7H), which included height adjustment for the front passenger seat.

The 2026 Chevy Equinox EV drops the six-way manual seat adjuster.

For the 2025 model year, the manual six-way adjustment was included as standard on LT 2 and RS trims, but was not available on the base LT 1. Rather, the 2025 Equinox EV LT 1 was equipped with the four-way manual seat adjuster (RPO code A7E). Buyers looking to equip their crossover with powered seat adjustment could opt for the six-way power seat (RPO code A7J), which was included and only available with the Convenience Package II (RPO code 6K5).

Now, as we head into the 2026 model year, GM has made the four-way manual front passenger seat (RPO code A7E) a standard feature across the Equinox EV LT 1, LT 2, and RS trim levels. The six-way manual adjuster with height control is no longer available for any trim. As such, customers who want some form of height adjustability will need to upgrade to the Convenience Package II, which includes the A7J power adjuster.

In addition to this revision to the seat adjustment feature list, the 2026 Equinox EV also introduces the new Midnight Package (RPO code WBL), which is offered exclusively for the LT 1 trim. This package includes a suite of dark exterior elements, such as gloss black badges, wheel caps, nameplates, and AWD badge (if equipped), along with black-painted mirror caps (RPO code DP6), a black mid fascia (paint code GBA), and black-painted aluminum wheels (RPO code Q84). The result is a slightly stealthier appearance for the entry-level electric crossover.

Production of the 2026 Chevy Equinox EV is now set to begin on August 4th, 2025. Assembly will continue to take place at the Ramos Arizpe facility in Mexico, while the GM BEV3 platform provides the underpinnings.

  1. Height adjustment and lumbar support are so important for anyone who suffers from lower back problems. Most manufacturers could not care less about the front seat passenger’s comfort.

  3. GM is saving millions by producing the model in Mexico, only to take away features as standard. The savings go to execs like Mary Barra, who is seemingly becoming wealthier each year.
