The Chevy Blazer EV launched for the 2024 model year with multiple drivetrain configurations, including FWD, AWD, and RWD. With all three of these drivetrain configurations available to customers, the Blazer EV was a unique offering in the market, but now, that’s about to change with the launch of the new 2026 Chevy Blazer EV.
As it turns out, the 2026 Chevy Blazer EV will discontinue of the RS RWD variant, streamlining the vehicle lineup and eliminating the option for RWD outright. The discontinuation of the RS RWD will leave the 2026 Blazer EV lineup with five configurations, namely the LT FWD, LT AWD, RS FWD, RS AWD, and the performance-oriented SS AWD.
The RS RWD variant was previously the range leader of the lineup, offering up to 334 miles on a full charge thanks to its 102 kWh battery pack. By contrast, FWD versions were rated at 312 miles, while AWD variants were rated up to 283 miles. The SS trim, which also cradles the 102 kWh pack, was rated at 303 miles of range.
With the RS RWD eliminated, the SS will be the only model variant equipped with the 102 kWh battery pack. The remaining 2026 Chevy Blazer EV variants, including LT and RS in both FWD and AWD, will soldier on with the 85 kWh battery pack.
Beyond the range ratings, towing capability also shifts with the latest lineup change. The RS RWD was previously rated with a maximum towing capacity of 3,500 pounds, while all other trims are capped at 1,500 pounds. The police-spec Blazer EV PPV variant has a 1,000-pound tow rating.
As GM Authority covered previously, production of the 2026 Chevy Blazer EV has been delayed slightly and will now get under way on July 21st, 2025. Production will take place at the GM Ramos Arizpe facility in Mexico. Dealer configurations opened on May 29th, 2025, with order processing beginning June 12th.
Under the skin, the 2026 Chevy Blazer EV will once again ride on the GM BEV3 platform, and will rely on GM battery packs and drive motors for motivation.

Well, that killed what little interest in the Blazer I had.
Ah yes, nothing screams “we know what drivers want” like killing rear-wheel drive and replacing universally loved CarPlay and Android Auto with whatever half-baked, laggy in-house software someone’s cousin coded in a basement. Bold move, Chevy. Can’t wait for the recall on the “revolutionary” infotainment system that won’t even let me skip a song without freezing.
Uh, yet another bad decision, Mother Mary?
On the bad:
it’s what she does and she does it well!
I can’t believe that Mother Mary is still around. Its just one stupid ignorant decision after another.
$5 says none of you complaining about this were ever considering a Blazer EV to begin with, so probably the right move on GM’s part.
I just recive myBLAZER ev 2025 my dealer tell me gm no more instal plastic cover under the hood for model 2025. Anybody can tell me it is real or false. I tink the Body Shop use my cover panel to fix a crash Blazer. Wat do you tink?.
The under hood close out panel has since been removed.
