2026 Cadillac Lyriq Gets AKG Studio Sound System Upgrade

The Cadillac Lyriq crossover launched for the 2023 model year as the luxury marque’s very first all-electric production vehicle. Now, the 2026 Cadillac Lyriq is poised to deliver a series of noteworthy updates and changes over the previous 2025 model year, including the new go-fast Lyriq-V variant and a few tweaks to the trim level cadence. In addition, the 2026 Cadillac Lyriq will offer an enhanced audio experience courtesy of an upgraded AKG Studio sound system.

The 2026 Cadillac Lyriq will offer an upgraded AKG stereo.

For the 2025 model year, the Lyriq Luxury 2, Sport 2, Luxury 3, and Sport 3 were equipped with a 19-speaker AKG Studio audio system (RPO code UQP), while lower trims like Luxury 1 and Sport 1 were equipped with the standard, unbranded seven-speaker stereo setup (RPO code UQG).

Now, heading into the 2026 model year, the upper trim levels (now Premium Luxury, Premium Sport, Signature Luxury, and Signature Sport) will be equipped as standard with an upgraded version of the AKG Studio system (RPO code UQP), boasting 23 speakers and Dolby Atmos. The upcoming Lyriq-V and Lyriq-V Premium trims will also feature the new 23-speaker premium audio setup as standard.

These updates arrive alongside a restructured trim nomenclature. Cadillac is phasing out the previous numerical trim names (Luxury 1 through 3, and Sport 1 through 3) in favor of Luxury, Premium Luxury, Signature Luxury, Sport, Premium Sport, and Signature Sport. Essentially, “Premium” is the new “2,” and “Signature” is the new “3.”

Further changes for the 2026 model year include a minor revision to the Lyriq’s exterior palette, with Crystal White Tricoat (color code G1W) will be replaced by Vibrant White Tricoat (color code G4J).

Under the skin, the 2026 Cadillac Lyriq will continue to ride on the GM BEV3 platform, with vehicle production taking place at the GM Spring Hill Assembly plant in Tennessee. As GM Authority reported previously, the start of regular production (SORP) for the 2026 Lyriq is currently scheduled to begin on July 28th, 2025.

  1. – Could you confirm whether the 2025 and 2026 Cadillac Lyriq models—across all trims—experience the same issue as the 2023 and 2024 models, where the “jewelry drawer” fails to stay closed and intermittently pops open 1/2 inch or so?
    – If the newer models do not have this issue, I would respectfully ask why a functional design was not retroactively applied to remedy the same flaw in earlier 2023 and 2024 models.
    – My dealer has declined to service the drawer issue on my 2024 Lyriq Sport 3, citing that they are awaiting a permanent solution from Cadillac.
    – At this time, there appears to be a lack of visible follow-through or communication from Cadillac regarding this ongoing concern.
