2025 GMC Canyon Gets New Desert Sun Color: First Look

The 2025 GMC Canyon represents the current-gen pickup’s third model year, and introduces several changes such as the addition of the Nightfall Edition, the switch from a trim level to an option package for the Canyon AT4X, and three paint color swaps.

Glacier Metallic, Desert Sun and Rapids Metallic have been added for the 2025 model year, replacing Dynamic Blue Metallic, Solar Flare Metallic and Desert Sand Metallic.

Desert Sun is identified with color code GBF and touch-up paint number WA-230K. It’s part of a palette of eight colors available on the 2025 GMC Canyon, including:

  • Deep Bronze Metallic
  • Onyx Black
  • Sterling Metallic
  • Summit White
  • Volcanic Red Tintcoat
  • Desert Sun (new for 2025)
  • Glacier Metallic (new for 2025)
  • Rapids Metallic (new for 2025)

Priced at an additional $495, the Desert Sun color is available on the AT4 trim level, but not the Elevation or Denali. It’s offered in conjunction with the AT4’s Jet Black / Timber interior colorway and the AT4X package’s Obsidian Rush colorway.

As a reminder, there are four interior colorways for the 2025 GMC Canyon across the Elevation, AT4 and Denali trim levels, namely:

  • Jet Black
  • Jet Black / Timber
  • Obsidian Rush
  • Jet Black / Teak

Other 2025 GMC Canyon changes include expanded availability of the 20-inch Black aluminum wheels (RPO code SNX), the addition of a snorkel on the dealer-installed options list, and the Rear Seat Belt Indicator being fitted as standard. Pricing starts at $40,095 including the destination freight charge that recently increased from $1,595 to $1,695. The 2025 Canyon configurator is live on GMC’s website.

The 2025 GMC Canyon rides on the GMT31XX platform and is equipped with the TurboMax turbocharged 2.7L I4 L3B engine that develops 310 horsepower and 430 pound-feet of torque, managed by the GM eight-speed automatic transmission. Production takes place at the GM Wentzville plant in Missouri.

  2. Love that color, but I bet that orange looks weird with the black/white and red interior

  3. Essentially, the interiors are always black with a few bits of contrasting trim pieces. Yeah, thanks for all choices that aren’t really choices.

  4. Now if they could just give us an OPTIONAL interior to go with that color. And I’m not talking orange stitching in black seats. Needs to be more creative than that.
