The 2025 Chevy Silverado EV follows the all-electric pickup truck’s initial 2024 model year with several important updates and changes, including new styling options, new interior colors, and new tech features. As was also the case for the 2024 model year, the 2025 Chevy Silverado EV offers multiple drive modes to help users better tailor onboard systems to the driving conditions at hand. Now, GM Authority is taking a closer look at the 2025 Chevy Silverado EV drive modes.
Normal Mode
As you might expect, Normal Mode is designed for everyday city and highway driving, balancing comfort and handling to deliver a smooth, easy experience behind the wheel.
Off Road Mode
Off Road Mode is made for recreational off-pavement driving, modifying settings like throttle response, steering, suspension, and traction control systems to help maintain control on dirt, gravel, snow, or other rough surfaces.
Tow/Haul Mode
Tow/Haul Mode is designed to support heavy loads. When active, this mode adjusts how the vehicle accelerates, steers, and manages its suspension (including rear-wheel steering) to make hauling trailers or heavy cargo more stable. It also stays active for up to four hours after shutting off the vehicle, then resets to Normal Mode unless re-engaged.
Wide Open Watts
Wide Open Watts is a special performance mode intended only for short bursts. It provides the truck’s maximum acceleration power without changing your main drive mode, and is not meant for daily use, especially since it lowers your driving range.
My Mode
My Mode is a customizable setting that lets you fine-tune the vehicle’s behavior. You can personalize the acceleration feel, steering effort, suspension stiffness, and even the interior motor sound. Users can mix and match these different elements (such as using a relaxed throttle feel with sporty suspension) to create a unique drive tailored to your preferences.
Acceleration Pedal | Steering Effort | Suspension | Motor Sound | |
---|---|---|---|---|
Tour | - | X | X | - |
Relaxed | X | - | - | - |
Normal | X | X | X | X |
Sport | X | X | X | X |
Off | - | - | - | X |
Four-Wheel Steering
The Silverado EV RST also features four-wheel steering (4WS), which can help with tight turns and even towing stability. Automatic Mode is the default and adjusts rear wheel angles based on how the front wheels are turning, improving both low-speed maneuverability and high-speed lane changes. Sidewinder Mode is a unique function where the rear wheels mimic the front wheels at the same angle, letting the truck move diagonally, which can help in really tight spaces. Off Mode disables rear steering entirely, keeping the rear wheels pointing straight for situations where the driver may want a more traditional steering response.
Comments
“Four Wheel Steering” ? Seem to recall GM tried this once before and there were entire threads on several owner’s Forums discussion and HELP seekers complaining in large numbers about all its problems ?
EV Four Wheel steering is not even close to the same design as ICE from years ago. The Hummer EV, Sierra EV and Escalade IQ & IQL also all option 4 wheel steering now.
These modes are only available in the RST.
You can’t change or customize on the WT. Only thing you can control in the WT is the one pedal driving and that’s it.
Such a misleading article.
