1972 Chevy Blazer Ditches The Roof, Rides High On 37-In Tires With LS3 Power: Video

It’s hard to deny the appeal of the classic 1972 Chevy Blazer. Widely recognized as an icon of the American SUV segment, the ’72 Blazer offered a blend of strong off-road performance and everyday drivability, making it a favorite among outdoor enthusiasts and collectors alike. Now, we’re checking out what happens when the classic Blazer gets a massive lift, 37-inch tires, and an LS3 V8 under the hood, all courtesy of the following feature video.

A custom 1972 Chevy Blazer.

Once again coming from the folks at AutotopiaLA, this custom 1972 Chevy Blazer was built by Rock Bottom Off-Road, and looks to blend new and old in equal proportions. The exterior is finished in a tuxedo black-and-white color scheme, but retains its original body lines, giving it a clean, classic look – plus some serious upgrades to boot.

Under the hood, you’ll find an LS3 V8 engine, which is rated at 525 horsepower and paired with the 4L80 transmission – plenty for an application like this. The engine bay is impressively clean and simple, featuring a smoothed firewall, custom shock towers, and neatly tucked plumbing.

The Blazer sits on a customized factory frame reinforced to handle some off-road abuse. Highlights include a Radflo coilover suspension with one-ton axles, 37-inch tires on 17-inch Vision wheels, a Dana 60 rear axle, and a 14-bolt rear end, and Wilwood brakes.

Inside the Chevy Blazer, Rock Bottom customized nearly everything, including a roll cage, a new center console, TMI seats, Dakota Digital gauges, and Vintage Air A/C. The interior mixes old-school charm (like window crank switches) with modern conveniences, plus dual transfer case handles.

With its towering ride height and commanding road presence, this 1972 Chevy Blazer looks like it’s a riot to drive, even if it’s not exactly confidence-inspiring at freeway speeds or in tight corners. But hey, in the end, it’s all about having a good time, isn’t it?

  2. Nice, but……Looks like it could use some experimenting with the alignment settings. It shouldn’t be wandering that much, even with 37s.
